SRS light constantly on

have a 02 honda civic LX and the SRS light is constantly on all of a sudden. first question is, why is it on? is it something major that needs to be fixed? what's the problem and how do I fix it?

p.s cannot find the manual. if someone knows where the online version is, I can look it up myself(if it's available)

I'm researching on the net and some say it could be a seatbelt problem(covered by a lifetime warranty), or something more serious. anyone have experiences?

SRS light=safety restraint system.Could have something to do with the seatbelt or the airbag system.More than likely it is a airbag problem. It is something you should have a qualified tech. look at.

Has the battery been unhooked lately?

On my wifes Acura we put a new battery in and the SRS light came on. She ran it by the dealer and they turned it off.

Listen to Sluggo above BUT don't take it to the dealer. When I installed my new radio in my truck I had to remove the passenger airbag switch to do it ... which caused the same problem that you are having. I was able to reset the system using instructions I found on the WEB. It has saved me the dealer fee numerous times.

Yes,

Borrow (or buy) an OBD II scanner and have the car checked. I bought one off of Ebay about 6 months ago and it has already saved me a lot of $$$.
