They would have gotten a much better launch if they had put an upright piece of cardboard or something on the back edge of the launcher. If you watch close the squirrel begins to fall off the back, if that piece of carboard was there it would hit that and thus have a higher final velocity.

What do you think a squirrel is? It's a member of the RODENT family. It's a rat with a nicer tail.
