Squirrels in the floors/walls of apt. building - advice?

Before you suggest anything, yes, I have already spoke to the landlady and she is going to do something about it.

In the meantime does anyone have advice to get rid of these little bastards? I have no qualms about killing them but is there a good way to lure them out of hiding and into traps? Any kind of sprays or poisons I can put down to keep them away once I've killed them?

I've had luck with those electronic pest controllers, but they don't work overnight. In my experience they take about a week to see/hear a difference.

wtf are you talking about? He rents...the rodent problem is not his responsibility. The very first (and only) thing he should have done is contact the landlady. He shouldn't have to do a damn thing about the issue besides notify the owner.

Wait, so what are your panties in a bunch about? That he wants to kill the rodents, or that he contacted his landlady? He was in the right to contact the landlady, and it should be his only responsibility to rectufy this situation. If he wants to trap and kill the rats, then so be it. I would also set traps for any rodents if I rented a place.

Normally I would take my 12 gauge loaded with #4 shot, or my ruger 10/22 and go squirrel hunting.

But since the OP is probably in a residential area, the OP might want to keep his shots confined to a safe area. I doubt the neighbors would like shot raining down on their houses from a shotgun blast into the air.

Thanks. I have been trying to get the landlady to trim the trees (a branch snapped off and blocked the street last winter) for a while now. The metal band trick may be worth a shot but the next door building is super close. They may be making the jump from there; I haven't been able to figure out how they're getting into the structure yet.

Quick update: I caught one and snapped it's neck. I still hear another one running around up there today. If I get it I'll update again.

There are live traps that work really well for squirrels baited with some peanut butter. I think you can even rent them. But you really need to figure out where they are coming in and close that up.

My parents had them in their attic 10 years ago. They were nesting in the fiberglass and had a littler of baby squirrels up there. When we caught them in the live trap we drove them to a park a few miles away and released them.

I may not be worth the time but at least I can keep pests out of my home.

Everytime I have heard of someone with a pest issue other than a broken pipe attracting things were that they lived like fucking slobs.

Alky's more or less right. You need to find the hole they're getting in, and plug it. I have trees overhanging the house, and I regularly hear squirrels galloping across the roof, but they don't get in. Get on the roof, and find the hole they're using.

In our case they had pushed in the screen on the attic fan, they are quite clever.
