Squeezing my 2.6C

I may have one of the worst 2.6C's. I have 2 sticks of TwinMos/Winbond PC3200 w/BH5 chips, an IS7 and a Zalman CNPS-7000A AlCU. I cannot get past 3.0GHz, even with my memory running 3:2. I have it @ 5:4 now. I can't boot at any speed w/GAT @ turbo, so I leave that off. The following 4 settings are all set to auto, but would I be able to get a few more mhz by turning them off? If so, which ones?

is your memory holding you back ?

try 2-3-2-6 timings and you might get a few more mhz

Try setting GAT to:

auto, normal, auto, disabled, disabled

Set Vcore to 1.6v - 1.7v

Set your DDR to SPD and 2.8V - 2.9v

Set GAT at Auto, Auto, Auto, Disabled, Disabled, relax the RAm timings as to isolate the cpu and motherboard only, get bios 1.7

Sometimes increasing the videocard voltage to 1.60 helps (VDDQ in Hardware Doctor)

One thing .... Your Antec Truepower 330 watts might not be enough for all the stuff you have.

Check the +3.3 and +12V rails.

Underpowered combined wattage power on the power supply is a known cause for preventing high overclocks.

My rails look good @ 11.86v on the 12v under load, 3.26v on the 3.3v. I have 2.8v going to the ram, which is as much as the IS7 lets me push it. 1.625v going to the CPU, but I only see 1.58v or so under load. Temps are right around 60C under 2 instances of P95.

I'll also try bumping the timings up as advised. The big confusing thing was the GAT and the other memory options.

Those rails are decent, but certainly not "good" by any means.

your best bet is auto auto disabled disabled, ram at spd, ram voltage at 2.8 (as that is the highest it goes on the is7), 5:4 timing, and add some juice to your vcore. your main problem, and the same one that i had in the beginning was the auto auto disabled, etc. thing. i have the same rig basically (is7, 2.6c, 1 gig kingston hyperx pc3500), i have mine running at 240fsb since call of duty was crashing at 250

I ran @ 240 for 7 hours last night with your settings, Godfather. I woke up and tested 245 and it errored out in only a few minutes, so I went back to 240 and now it errors out in less than an hour, sometimes faster! My luck with overclocking seems to have gone down the toilet since my 300a @ 450.

yeah you need to isolate if it's a ram problem or a cpu problem.

have you tried 1 stick of ram? or tried different slots?

try 1 stick and overclocking. you may just have a bad set of ram.

I did buy one of my sticks on ebay since the BH5 wasn't available anymore when I decided to go to 1024... even if I do have a "bad" stick, MemoryX couldn't get me a matching replacement. IIRC, 3:2 didn't net me any more MHz either...

just try 1 stick for oc-ing

I gave it a try and I still can't hit 250. It passed 10 hours of 239 w/ram @ 2.5-7-3-3. I'm trying with it lower now. Temps have jumped up to 61C under load, though I still have my case fans very low. Room temperature is just below 70.
