I took sociallychallenged advice and started doing the 5x5 workout. I think it is great with a much improved core and strength espcially my back. The problem is I have knee pain after my workout. It just started about a week ago. I also started softball too so that might have something to with it. I am using the proper form from the website and have been checked at the gym. Does anyone hear have a little bit of pain? Thanks for the help.

Hm, are you making sure you're on your heels when you're squatting? Some people new to squats don't realize they're going on their toes, which leads to their knees going forward, putting more stress on them than they can take.

Do you feel the pain right after squats? Right after softball? After both? Randomly? It would be best if you could use a digital camera to record your squat (side view), then you could have many people analyze it and give you their suggestions to improve your form.

it could be my heels. sometimes I have had time keeping them down even with curling up my toes. Thanks social. Also the knee pain happens randomly mostly at night.

Hm, alright. That's usually a flexibility issue. Start stretching your hamstrings, hip flexors, and glutes. That should help keep you on your heel a bit better. Do you have any pain or soreness in your knee right after you squat? If not, work on the form and report back.

Make sure your knees track over your toes. So, if your toes are pointed slightly out, make sure that, as you drive upward, your knees do not collapse inward. This can be difficult, but makes sure there is an even load on the joint.

thanks for the input and advice. I have been making sure my knees don't collapse so there is an even load. I think it could be a flexibility issue. I will stretch more and see if that corrects it. thanks again

The wider your stance, the easier it is to lower your heels. How far apart are your heels right now?
