Am i the only one think they have the best artist in console gameing?

Not only do everyone of their Final Fantasy games look great for the time... Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 is damn nice looking game:

not to mention Dragon Quest 8..

I think they make some great things happen for the PS2 thats for sure... I can not belive stuff looks so good on a limited machine..

Just wondering if i am the only one feeling this?

They're good, but not the best.

Look at Gran Tursimo 4 on PS2. Running that in 1080i is amazing for the ps2 (full 30fps too). Or killzone, that looks amazing too (framerate...eh)

Square-enix games look OK....artisticly, they're great, but sometimes the actually graphics could use work (FFXII looks a bit bland...)

Artistically I would agree, they are probably the best.

Technically, far from the best. Thankfully good graphics should not always be about the best gaming engine, but about what artistic styles are being represented.

However, Gameplay wise I consider them the worst, though. That style of RPGs should have died with the 8bit NES!

I am extremely fond of the direction they took with DQ8, and I can appreciate what they are trying to do with FF(although I think that series tanked after VI- and yes for anyone wondering I am saying VII was a major decline over VI).

You realize that turn based RPGs utterly dominate the market; and for a good reason I might add. All of the hype and talk about the staggering hit that WoW has been they have to date reached a total global installed base that would be considered a bad opening weekend for a Pokemon game in a single country. Turn based allows you to focus on the strategy elements of the battle instead of your reflexes. That is why they are popular.

I'm pretty sure that the PS2 doesn't support any HD resolutions such as 720P or 1080i. It does have component video support, which is mainly good for playing DVDs at 480i...I don't even think it does 480p...the new revision does 480p tho.

I haven't played DQ8, but do you still have that "Fight. Magic. Item. Run." menu? Like I said, should have died in the 8bit days.

I love turnbased RPGs, but just not that style. Have you ever played Fallout? That's my favorite style.

- - I'm a fan of japanese anime and most if not all game companies in japan are capable of doing what square enix is doing with art because theyre actually taught to draw that way in school. Going from the drawing board to 3D however is often what makes them different.

I like the art from Soul Calibur and Tekken because both games are fighting games and tend to bring in artists that are great at drawing folds and the human anatomy.

Btw, good artists does not mean good graphics. For all you guys posting things like killzone and various racing games - -v

feeling this?

hash you tool Square enix fanboy ! why don?t you join the Square enix fan club :( .. You fail as a gamer.. Square enix sucks at making games for pc (horrible pc ports)!!! Sure they maybe one of the best RPG developing freak team in the world but they have lost most of their veteran developer that made what square enix is today.

My fav Square Enix title would be : Chrono Trigger , Final Fantasy 2 , Vagrant story and Crono Cross. Lately all Square enix stuff haven?t been revolutionary and have been just good so it shows me that there golden age has come to end but people will still keep buying square enix title because there image , brand name and legend they have built. its the same reason people still buying crappy Sony product because it has the sony logo on it !

but square enix can?t claim them as the best RPG developers until they make a revolutionary Action RPG which they lack in. but square enix wanted to change combat system with FX11 and they horrible failed as no one liked it so the game was delayed and not even playable in E3 2005 which was playable in E3 2004!! anyways the game went back to old stlye combat system which i am bored off. Also looking at IGN review show your lack of experience in gaming knowledge so i am not going to bother in explaining the history of gaming since you aren?t worth the time you goon !!!

I rather play FF turn based than fallout, i never like that game much.

oh GT4 has support for 480p and 1080i (so it says in the options) and games like GT4 it is not really an artist thing to make it look good, you model a car or scene based off real life and copy its textures. Not saying that is easier or anything but personaly do not think it is the same.
