Not sure if you even looked at the screenshot, but it was running for almost 14 minutes, not a few seconds. And the temp did not want to go above 54c at all.

Probably because I put a EXTREME 9800 cooler on my card.

If you like, Ill run it for an hour and post a screen shot, but it wont make the temps raise any.

I dont know how to turn on AA...but here it is for an hour of Extreme burning mode.

58c after an hour

Missed the duration, sorry. But how does you running a custom cooler designed by a 3rd party company to cool your card as best as possible disprove my point, I have no idea :hmm: I told you Furmark shut down some Radeons a few months ago as it was overstressing one of the components (too much current was running through the VRMs - so it wasn't even temperature related...). I used it to prove my suggestion (software pushing hardware over its limit).

Also, how hot does the card get in games? I bet quite lower than what it hits in Furmark Which just shows Furmark can seriously stress your hardware (which is actually undisputable as it's one of the best programs to test GPU stability). Just because you have a great cooler and not the stock one, hardly proves otherwise.

Anyway, on topic - I didn't get this game. And if I ever will, it will be for my Xbox360. So I guess I'm safe 😉

What version of the console did you have? I encountered no issues on a 60GB and 40GB...trying to see if it's model specific.

I had no issues with the MGS4 80GB with Uncharted, FFXIII, Assassin's Creed II.. the only time its frozen up on me was once during an enduro on NFS:Shift.

Wow, that sucks. Uncharted froze on me all the time. I had to return that game 3 times and every copy locked the PS3 hard. Google showed tons of PS3 owners having the same issue. No fix was ever sent out. And I really wanted to play it as t first few leves seemed fun.

Was that around last year after you did a ps3 update? There was a issue with that game freezing after one particular update but its been fixed since.

I thought that was fixed?

Don't see how a game can damage the console. The console hardware should be able to run at 100% full load without problems, otherwise something is wrong with it.

You simply meant that software "can" stress hardware, and sometimes make the hardware fail. Yes...you are right. I never said you weren't.

All I am saying is, with inadequate cooling, anything will run hot. And with proper cooling....hardware should be fine.

Do you hear that SONY ? If you want my money.....I want a FF game that wont brick the console.

I have heard this about FF13, but I hate FF anyway. I have a copy of FF7? 8? for PC. It never worked. It never worked on Win98, Me, 2000, or XP. I even tried 98SE on modern hardware and it still would not run. Latest patch (lol like 2 ever) and no dice. Prior to that I had FF3? 4? 5? for SNES, and it was kind of pathetic. So, nothing but bad luck for me with FF. Anime isn't my gig anyway.

Bad code can cause a computing device to physically fail. Yes.

I know this because I read the article about catching Mitnick, and the guy who did it also happened to admit to writing programs to physically trash computers. If it can be done intentionally, it can be done accidentally.

Its a PS3 slim 250gb version. I believe it had 3.0 FW on it at the time, all FW updates did not fix the issue at all. Havent looked to see if its been resolved in a while but I doubt it was as its an old game.

I wonder if these issues are more prevalent in the slim PS3 models, then...

I wonder if this Daniel Wolf is a lawyer or he's just lawyered up.

Lawsuits related to gaming or technology in general always end up with the end user getting next to nothing and some lawyer getting millions. Why do people even bother.
it forces companies to weigh the cost of extra QA time versus potentially getting sued for millions of dollars?

My 60GB fat model had no problem with FFXIII (for what it's worth).

Reading through some of the thread on the PS forums regarding the issue, it seems as the the slim models are the least likely to encounter this.

Either way, it sounds like it could have something to do with the Blu-Ray driver, laser, etc. People are reporting some weird things besides their systems locking up or dying.

Yeah, I've been doing some reading, and it seems that launch PS3s seem to be particularly prone. It makes me wonder if their systems were already worn down and FFXIII was just too stressful for the hardware.

My 60GB fat model is from right after the first price drop, and I don't play it often. Maybe that's why I had no problems.

waaaaait...so should i stop playing my FFXIII game? my PS3 has frozen once with the game in and again with Red Dead Redemption...is FFXIII gonna ruin my ps3??!?!??

Hrm...I have a launch PS3...

That said, I've logged over 45 hours into FFXIII, and the PS3 is my most played console, so...

I guess I'm safe?

not really. its the FAT ones that seem to be having the most trrouble (though seems to be hitting them all).

I have a 80gig fat one and i can't play FF on it. though i have tried a bunch of other games and have yet to have any issues at all.
