Squad based FPS suggestions

I'm looking for a good single player squad based FPS, preferably with some RPG eliminates mixed in. I enjoy games where you have some vested interest in keeping your squad mates alive.

I've Played:
Mass Effect 1: though the squad controls were a little "off" but everything else was enjoyable.
Mass Effect 2: better controls, however the RPG elements were lacking, not to mention all the ammo hunting was distracting from the gameplay.
Ghost Recon: Enjoyable but never was able to have decent control with managing 2 separate squads. Any of the sequels very decent?
Freedom Fighters: Old, more of a FPS with a few squad mates, but they were more useful as cannon fodder then anything else.

Suggestions?

Republic Commando, mostly FPS, little to no RPG elements, but still very fun.

Very short even on the hardest difficulty but seriously one of the most enjoyable FPS games I have ever played.

Graphics still look alright and you should be able to pick it up dirt cheap.

Seriously, Brothers in Arms.

One of the most underrated games in the genre. Realism, actual strategy and tactics, and not everything is scripted nonsense like CoD.

Best of all, they're all dirt cheap now. Earned in Blood and Hell's Highway are both still excellent, and keeping your squad alive really matters.

Fallout 3/NV?

Definitely vested interest in keeping squadmates alive. (On hardest difficulty they die.)

Brothers in Arms sounds exactly like what you're describing. And you can get all 3 games on steam for $20 (regular price).
