I'm having a problem at work where Backup Exec won't backup the SQL Database, I can see the database but it's grayed-out so that I can't select it. Tried re-creating the users/admin account and still no luck, re-creating the backup job, selections, etc. and no luck.......any help would be greatly appreciated.

Backup Exec needs the "SQL Agent" in order for you to backup the DB's on the fly.
You can workaround this by creating a Maintenance Plan to backup your DB's in SQL Enterprise Manager. Schedule it to run daily, before Backup Exec runs. Backup the folder that the maintenance plan backs up to.
This, of course, won't help much if you need BE to backup the DB on the fly though. That's what the Agent will do for you.
