SQL Server 2000 EE vs. Standard

I'm going to need SQL Server 2000 for a pair of servers, and I was hoping someone could help me with a question about the limitations of Standard Edition.

Will SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition refuse to be installed on a server with 4 GB of ram, or will it simply ignore and available ram above 2 gigs? Apparently that is one of the big limitations of SE, that it has a ram limit of 2 GB. That's a major bummer because we have a couple open SE licenses, but we'd have to pay up the 6 G's to get EE. I was hoping to install SE on our backup server (which has 4 GB of ram) until we could beg for the cash to get the upgraded version.

Thanks!
