spyware

recently a lot of weird things have been happening with my comp...ive not been able to sign into many sites, and i cannot open windows media player...i think i have spyware installed but SPYBOT does not detect it....anyone know what i could use to try and find whats wrong? thnx

Try Ad-aware

Also make sure that your virus defintions and spybot are up to date.

Are you sure this is a malicious problem, though? Not some kind of software corruption? What exactly happens when you try to sign into sites?

you can try ad aware if spybot didn't detect it. if you're getting hijacked, you can try hijackthis also. those programs should help, but also make sure you don't have a trojan like someone said.

Like everyone is telling you, try ad-aware. I had stopped using ad-aware and began using spybot after reading how much better it was kept up to date. It's not so. I got my home page hijacked somehow and now matter how many times I would change it , it would always change back by itself after a reboot. Spybot was oblivious to it. I went back to ad-aware and it immediately found and corrected the hijack. You can use both programs but be sure you don't accidently let ad-aware delete your spybot history (set it to ignore) or else spybot may not be able to revert back if needed.

Good advice. Depth is always more likely to be more thorough than just one program. Spybot is getting slower also.

I use both and over the last few months Ad-aware has been updated more often then Spybot,I also use SpywareBlaster from here .
