Hey Schadenfroh, thanks for the tip, so should a person now install and use an antiSpyware program now that runs constantly in the background? I have been using M.Firefox ver 1.0.4. along with *Ad-aware-6* and *Spybot-Search n Destroy* and pretty much I believe my system has been pretty clean. (or so I think 🙂 )

The review really likes "PC Tools' Spyware Doctor 3.0" so I'm thinking about getting it or does what I use seem to be enough? TIA

in my opinion, just use spywareblaster (you dont have to have it running after you immunize) and scan regularly with spybot and adaware se, you should be fine, keep windows up to date and every other security program up to date.

All i do is keep my AV, Firewall, and windows up to date. Then i scan regularly with SPY BOT and Ad-aware. Never had a problem. But i think the main thing also is not to install crap that could be spyware, or could beget spyware.

Just to let you guys/gals know, for whatever this is worth. I ran *Ad-aware-6* and it found nothing I then after DLing *Spyware Doctor 3* (PCmag #1 choice) it found 7. Although they were not serious it still found them 😀

Good point, people are their own worst enemies a lot of the time. My favorite anti-spyware measure is to apply the principle of least privilege (run a Limited account, and do a Run As... to run individual programs as a Computer Administrator if it's actually necessary). But like you say, that won't save people from lowering their own defenses (to install warez or some "free" goodie they found, and the payload along with it).

Same here. I'm now using it to clean customers computers as well. Most of the systems that come in are really mucked up. I've been running all of these tools and still have to manually remove certain files and edit the registry on occasion. 😛

Anyone besides me think Yahoo Antispy is worthy? I run it separately from the toolbar (don't have the toolbar installed). Installed the toolbar with antispy - then uninstalled the toolbar. Created a shortcut to ypsr.exe which remained. It can be set to auto-update and scan with one click - can find and fix quite a number of issues. Also use Spybot and run an occasional scan with Housecall - but find the little Yahoo tool worthwhile.
