Spyware problem

i left my computer on overnight and when i woke up i ran a syware scan with spybot and ad aware i ran ad ware first and everything went smooth but then when i ran spybot it said i had some pretty bad spyware on my computer so i wait until its done scanning and i try to clean them up but then spybot freezes and doesnt let me clean it. So i was wondering if there was a way i could manually get rid of the spyware and were i can find the file names of the spyware to delete them.

I'm not aware of a hardware solution to this issue.

Yes, this is better posted in sofware or technical support. The first place I would look is my add/remove in the control panel. I found quite a bit of unauthorized programs on my old computer there. Scan for names you are not familiar with, and google them to find more info.

Make all your passwords difficult, do not use a blank passoword, or your system will get infected in a day's time or less... also, use Firefox, and stop using IE.
Those 2 things make it almost spyware free for me at least.

Not using a password on a Windows XP machine limits the amount of network sharing that can happen.

Rather, use a limited user account for day to day stuff.

I'm not suggesting not using a password at all, that's just not good (esp on an Admin account) just using a PWD that is not so easy.. I do recommend the 2nd profile for day to day stuff like you say, (for some people it's just easier) but for me, I just make sure on my system @ home that I follow the right precautions, I keep my PC booted into my main account at all times.

I used to ran the same anti spywares (Ad Aware and Spy Bot) with the assumption both of these will do an outstanding job. Well, not quite, after running Spy Sweeper, I found 50 more spywares looming around.

I would also give Microsoft Anti Spyware a shot. After you think your machine is cleaned out completely the Microsoft AS seems to do an excellent job of keeping it clean and spyware free.

You dont have to use a Limited Account. Just make sure you have a good firewall and Anti-virus and the MAIN thing dump Internet Explorer and get FireFox. I cannot stress it more Get FIREFOX. You will have your spyware problem almost go away. When i run spybot and ad-ware it usually doesnt find anything. And Another thing staying off those X-rated sites will also help. : )

Nobody pays any attention to forum catagories anymore, so its a waste of time to complain.

and the answer to the question of anti-spyware freezing is to run it in safe mode


or use NOD 32 which will give you each and every full entry

Keep your spyware programs updated and try running them in safe mode.
Run a firewall as well.

I just cleaned a computer up for a friend. Incredible amounts of crap loaded on it. I told him he was the Blue Ribbon winner for Most Polluted Computer and to stop clicking on every fricking free offer.....
