This is going to sound like a product pimp, but it's another thing I think highly of while not seeing anyone recommend it (unless there is a reason I'm not aware).

I'm n the process of reestablishing my new computer to the same level as my laptop. I didn't run an AV on it, but I did run spyware blaster and spybot. Now, I've got spybot on my tower, but not spyware blaster and I'm seeing a lot more spyware making it past spybot.

Is there any reason to not use spyware blaster or should I supplement it?

I see no reason not to. All SpywareBlaster does is add stuff to IE and Firefox's blocklists. The lists SpywareBlaster uses are also different from the Spybot lists, so using them is not a bad idea.

I don't think you can get a better real time protection/ resources value than Spywareblaster, plus it's free. (limited account aside)

I think the reason you don't hear much about it is that it just creates the block list, uses no resources, causes no problems, updates without problem, and is therefore easily forgotten because it works so effortlessly.

No single program is going to stop all the malware, and they never stop trying, so keep checking the Malware sticky in the Software - Apps Catagory to add to your toolbox. My latest scanner addition is Superantispyware at http://forums.superantispyware.com/ . It has real time protection also that is said to be light on resources, but I find that AVG, Kerio 2.1.5, mozilla/Seamonkey, and Spywareblaster behind a DSL router have given me sufficient real time protection so far.
