Spyware and adware

Ok thru my msn i have mcafee virus and weebroot spyware for free. My os is vista home prem. It been running fine but after a vista update vista compatablility blocks this program from doing anything. Mcafee is still running fine. I use to think adware and spyware was the smae but know i know its not. My question is as far as free apps do i need to use both a adware and spyware app(separate program) I see from the post some people use lavasoft adware and some use superantispyware. Should i use both is is that not wise? Thanks for any help
 
Most of those free programs are manual scanners. If you need them the more the better, more complete coverage. Manual only can not conflict.
