Spyware, Adware, when will it all end?

Ok, this is getting a bit ridiculous. With a firewall, daily updated anti-virus and spybot. I still seem to contract many spyware programs on my hard drive. But now, a new face of spyware evolution has popped up. Some gaming sites I go to now have adware running on their links instead of the original link. My spybot has detected something but says it can't get rid of it because it runs in memory. I have tried everything. Not to mention the trojan "PWsteal" has been reappearing now and then, even though it gets deleted.

Someone be so kind as to help me with this massive headache.😛

Have you attempted to use an alternate SpyWare/Adware remover, such as AdAware?

Stuff that runs in memory should be dead when you shut down the PC. Therefore, it's likely that there's a file or registry edit that's calling the function.

Look up the manual procedure for removing/disabling "PWsteal". Don't just rely on the A/V software to do the job for you.

Best of luck,

I have the answer!

Stop going to those stupid web sites that are giving you the spyware!!! They can't be that good if all they do is mess up your machine.

pcmodem's suggestion is good though. Don't rely on just one spyware remover. I think you'll find that each one will detect different things. I use AdAware and SpyBot both, and on severly infected machines I have found that each app will detect different things, and sometimes miss parts of a spyware app that hte other will find.

Dr., Dr., it hurts when I do this.... D'oh -- Stop doing that!!!

If you keep getting infected going to certain sites, stop going there!!! Why would you continue to cause yourself problems!?!? Practice safe surfing!

Here is the answer to your problem. download ad-aware free version. click on the blue globe at the
top right and download and install the latest reference's then run it. it can and will delete
the adware and spyware you have. av software is not designed to block this stuff.
Now download spyblaster 3.1, it;s also free, and run the updates. this works with internet explorer
and will stop them from geting on your computer in the first place. this program
works great. i know because i've tested it by going on web sites that are loaded
with the stuff. when a page tries to install it a little red circle pops up for second.
this is telling you that it has blocked something. after my webpage rampage
i run ad-aware and i get maybe 2 at best that sliped by.
as far as a firewall is concerned, try zone alarms. the free version
also does a good job at keeping things out. it's not as effective as spyblaster
but the combo wil keep your computer clean.
