we had an old pc that was doing 'weird things'...some web pages wouldn't load, couldn't access menus...

i ran spybot and it found 200 problems, fixed them and now the pc runs fine. NAV 2004 pro is the next thing going on this pc.

Sad thing is -- NAV2k4 won't stop spyware (will it???). Need to use spywareblaster, stop downloading all those neat little toolbars, and surf safely...

Yeah 'freeware' is rarely 'free' these days... The adware business model is a very compelling way to subsidized development and distribution costs.

the latest Norton System Works includes in its giant bundle a spyware agent. it seems best to stick to just the AV and take the free spyware remedies.

Excuse me? What in System Works do you consider a spyware agent?

whoops, i lied. it is Norton AV 2004 (not a separate utility in the System Works package) that has the ability to detect spyware, adware, and viruses compressed in file archives. so, to answer your question, Norton AntiVirus is the app in System Works that I consider a spyware agent.

Aww, ok, I completely misunderstood you. By spyware agent I thought you were suggesting that SystemWorks installed spyware, not that NAV can detect it.

Sorry (and thanks for the clarification),
Bill
