Spy Shots: ?05 Mustang Convertible & Coupe

The convertible spy shots show that they are keeping those "sad eyes" headlights. It makes the front look like it's frowning. I hope they change the back taillights as well, because the concept car that came out in January had taillights straight off of an early '90s Mercury Capri!

Capri Rear End

'05 Mustang Rear End

Overall I liked the '05 Mustang concept car but there were several design cues that I did not find attractive, including things like the beltline is too high (they should have done a stepped beltline as seen on the old '60s design, the big butt rear end, the frowning headlights, and the flat & bulky sides.

I thought the concepts looked WAY better than the current design. I'm looking forward to seeing the production version, although I don't think the official reveal of the coupe is scheduled until the '04 NAIAS in January.

I don't get why the american car companies are going retro

because its the trend... the 350z... the mini... extremely marketable...

lets see... you just named a car from a japanese firm owned by a french firm and a british marquee owned and engineered by a german firm

i don't think the 1st one is a mustang..... muffler setup is like that of a FWD.... not rwd.... and the exhaust setup wouldn't change from convertible to coupe.

of course the way the body appears has mustang written all over it

which has nothing to do with the american part other than going retro is trendy in the US... which is arguably the biggest market for any company

was pointing out that its an international effort 🙂

I saw the spotted one all camo'd yesterday on Michigan ave. by canton center. I couldnt really tell its the mustang because the camo, only the polka dots on the sides made me realize it was it.

Ive seen a hard top one earlier this year, the camo was only matte stickets so you could tell it was a mustang.

I think I need to propose this as the new IT dept company car. I've been waiting for this car to be revealed since I first saw the concept ideas a couple of years ago.

What are you talking about? All I see in that pic is an exhaust pipe coming out the back. Are you saying that it's below the axle instead of over it? Well, the new Mustang has no axle.

Your IT department has a car?? :Q
How big is this department of yours and how many computers do you service? 🙂

05 mustang > * mustang and I have not liked them in the past....of course the 05 isn't out just yet though. Looks awesome as the concept, I hope they keep it as close to the concept as possible.

I dunno about you but I see alot more girls in Mustangs than guys.

And you see a lot of fvcktards in driving around in the 200 or 240 SX/ whatever the hell you drive. Plus, that is V6 mustangs...and you would still lose to one in a race.
