I was unable to find the deal in this forum about SprintPCS promotion plan for existing customer. If this is repost, please lock it!

I called SprintPCS and tried to cancal my service. A representative offered me a new plan as following:
$34.99 for
500 anytime minutes
2500 minute off-peak time (8pm ~ 7 am)
500 SprintPCS to SprintPCS

plus one month free, $70 credit, one year contract

Is this a good deal? How can I claim $70?

I got about the same deal the other day:
500 Peak
3000 Off Peak
500 PCS to PCS
for $35 a month
One year Sprint contract
And a $75 credit towards a new phone.

When you call in tell Clair (automated phone operator) "Cancellation of Service" and that will get you to the retention dept. From what I understand only they have the power to give you these perks.
I just told them I was having problems with drop calls and I was looking for more minutes.

There have been several threads on their "retention plan".

Last June, I got 450 days, 2000 N/W starting at 8 pm, 500 pcs-pcs, 3 months free wireless web, $100 credit, for $30/month.

The credit just shows up in your account. Go buy your new phone using your own money. With a $70 credit, your first month will be paid, and you'll have a few bucks left to pay on your second month.

Will they still offer me these deals if I still have a year left in my contract?

Try to dig up the old threads. If not, similar threads exist on other message boards. But from what I remember, some people bluffed and said they are willing to pay the $150 to break out of the contract. Then the retention department made the offers. Some people were not given an offer. They must have made it obvious that they were fishing for a retention plan. I think one person posted that he called back later and said he didn't want to cancel anymore, even after giving his 30-day cancellation notice.

Good luck.

You guys think I have any more bargaining power considering I recently activated my phone and am in the 14 day no obligation cancellation period? Or perhaps they care more about the customers that have been with them a while?

I wish I could do this... I have had my Sprint phone now for 2 1/2 years, but I get a 20% off discount by being an employee of my company... In any case, their business retention center and personal user retention center are two different things. Every time I try to do this, they say I cannot do it becuase it is not in the system. Then, they tell me that if I can give them a phone number of a coworker who got the same plan, THEN they could match it.

Sprint Sucks... I save 20%, but overpay 40% :|

If anyone who has a corporate discount and isn't under their 1 year contract anymore has any luck with this, please post it here.

6 months left in my contract, he didn't even mention it.

I got a decent deal, not as good as you guys:

$34.99
450 anytime minutes
5200 Night & Weekends
500 PCS-PCS
3 Months free wireless web
1 month free service
1 year added on to contract.

I can dig it.

zodder -- i think being in the 14-day trial period of a new activation is the best position to be in for getting a good retention deal. you can leave without penalty, and that's a good bargaining chip. just call them up and get a good deal. you've heard the other ones in this thread. the old retention thread may still be lurking around too (look for sprint pcs unpublished). using suggestions from that old thread, i got:

600 anytime minutes
3000 off peak minutes
8pm nighttime switchover
$30.00 per month
1 year contract

i used to have 500/1500 for $49.99 when it showed up the prior christmas (which was a good deal at the time). now i get more minutes and pay 40% less. hard to beat.

Are you guys sure the deal you got offered was with the off-peak minutes starting at 8 pm? Because most of the threads I've seen about this before all had the off-peak minutes starting at 9 pm. Just curious. It makes a big difference to me, as now I'm grandfathered in with an 8 pm off-peak start time.

Used to have for $36.99 (previous sprintpcs thread):
500 anytime
3000 n/w 8pm
$30 credit

Called and got for $49.99
1000 anytime
3000 n/w 8pm
500 pcs to pcs
1 month free (basically a $50 credit)

Since my phone bill last month was $109 because I went 179 min over the 500 anytime, I thought this was a great deal for only $13 more a month. YMMV

Don't ask for a plan. Go surf the web for deals from Verizon, AT&T, Cingular, etc. Write them all down. Then call Sprint and say you want to cancel because you found better deals elsewhere. If they don't sense that you're fishing for a retention plan, they will transfer you to the retention department. You can't ask to be transferred. When you get them, they will make the first offer based on your history. They will check to see how you use your minutes. More daytime minutes? More nighttime minutes?

When they make their first offer, you say "Well, I can get xxx minutes from Verizon for that price." If you're nice, they'll bump up their offer.

Then you say, "Wow! That's great! But AT&T offers bla bla bla..." Then SprintPCS will add more stuff.

Then say, "Well, Cingular has nights and weekends starting at bla bla bla..." And so on. You get the idea.

PS. This is no free lunch. Be ready to eat it if they call your bluff.

Nope. You can still use Vision tho, just have to pay the $0.02 per kB. Side note: You don't have to pretend you want to cancel. You won't get quite a good of a deal but when you call in and "Claire" asks what you need, say retention and politely explain to the person that there are better offers out there. As previously mentioned, just have some numbers ready to tell them from other providers. If you do this you will most likely get a retention plan as well.

Best way to do it is to explain that there are more aggressive plans out there, tons of drop calls, how long you have been with sprint, your phone is for business use etc.
This is what I landed...........

$49.99
1000 anytime
3000 nights and weekends
500 pcs to pcs
3 months wireless web
$179.00 phone credit

I consider that pretty hot......................What you think?

I just called, and they said that they could give me the retention plan, but that it would restart my one-year contract. Has this happened when y'all got the retention plan? I'd like the more minutes, but I think my company is going to get a NexTel Account this December, and I don't wanna get stuck with the contract cancellation fee if/when I switch... (my current contract runs out in December.)

I just called to find out what kind of retention offer I can get for being a sprint customer for 2.5 yrs

I was offered $130 credit towards a purchase of new phone, they will only credit my account upon activation of the new phone. no new contract required though.

What do I have to say to just get the credit without buying a new phone?
