Sprint PCS vs. Verizon???

I currently go to UCLA, I was wondering if there are people here that uses Sprint PCS around that area and what's the service like. Thanks.

Well, at least you ruled out Cingular. Service really blows around UCLA. I have had Sprint for almost 2 years now. I don't goto UCLA per se but I'm all over LA and have only had a service issue in one area consistently. I think if you're over in UCLA a lot the service is gonna suffer somewhat anyway b/c of the number of users relative to the area. If it were me, I would stick with Sprint. AFAIK, you should be able to "test drive" the service for up to 30 days or so and if you don't like it only pay for the minutes you used and give the phone back w/o any penalties.

well i cant help u out too much since i'm the east coast in virginia, however i would say that verizon is by far better in va, i get service everywhere that sprint couldnt when i had it (in dorm rooms, classes, and best of all i get service in the subway)

Verizon has a roaming agreement with Sprint. If you have Verizon (America's choice), you have Sprint. Verizon has the same arrangement with Alltel. The America's choice "network" is actually the sum total of all three networks (Verizon digital and analog, Alltel digital and analog, and Sprint PCS), which is why America's choice covers so much more area on the map.

The only problems I've noticed with Verizon is that some people are confused about when they will or won't be charged for roaming (a newer ERI-Enhanced Roaming Indicator-phone that tells you with the text banner lessens the confusion) and when you're zooming down the road and the phone is switching to different networks, your phone may be off the air for a few seconds to someone trying to call you while the phone registers itself on the non-Verizon system.

Just trying to resurrect this post....I'm considering getting verizon...anyone know how good it is in

newport beach/irvien area?

Don't bother with Sprint PCS - their customer service now is just pathetic.

Verizon would be my company of choice if I had to get a new plan right now

verizon.

i been a student at ucla for three years. had pacbell/cingular the first year, sprint the second, and verizon the third.

yea. like someone said u can rule out cingular - system busy renders the reception useless where u do get it.
sprint - receptions sucks all over ucla
my friends had att - sucky
verizon - best reception at ucla (except maybe nextel better - but thats much too costly)
get the 700 anytime local promotion w/ 4000 off peak for $45. i think u can add 500 mobile to mobile for 5 bucks.

so ya, verizon
