SPRINT PCS service == DIRT

I find their coverage really sucks as well, even if you are in their coverage area. Almost all my friends use Sprint, and they have a lot of trouble getting service. I use AT&T and rarely ever have a problem getting a signal. I was even hiking on top of Old Rag mountain in the Shanendoahs and I got a call when I was at the peak hehe.

I agree, I have had sprint for the last 3 years and in that time service has not improved, especially since I travel a lot on route 101. They have linked most of the 5 freeway but they are horridly slow in updating the networks.

I am dumping then in 2 months, when I am done with my taxes.

My dad has Sprint service and when I try to call him all the way in San Francisco, the call doesn't go through. I have to leave a voice message. It's a waste of my money. I'm going to tell him to get AT&T.

I think their customer service is a lot better now than it was just a year ago. However, that's not saying much. . . .

They always claim to be "expanding their coverage area" yet when I go to my parents' house (which is supposedly under SprintPCS coverage) I am never able to get a signal even though they supposedly have expanded way beyond the area. Lies. . . .

(at least their prices are very competitive though)

Verizon cellular service sucks as far as rates/uptime/plans go, but the tech support is really pretty nice, during the two times I had to contact them, anyways.

Sprint has been good to me in NYC for 2 years already. I had AT&T, and their service was horrendous, but I heard it's a little better now.

Don't expect too much, because it's 1900MHz.
800Mhz+Analog dual mode (AT&T or Verizon) is always better, but pay more for the rate plan and phone.

I just switched from AT&T Wireless to Sprint PCS for a few reasons:

1) I had a lot of drop-outs with AT&T driving around DFW.
2) I couldn't get a connection at my desk at work.
3) I couldn't get a connection in one of the computer rooms at work.
4) AT&T charges $0.15 (or $0.05; still too much) per 1K transferred.

I work in downtown Dallas. You'd think I could get a connection. With Sprint PCS I've never had a problem. I also like that I can attach a cable from my laptop serial port to the phone and dial out to a modem.

I've had Worldcom, Cingular (aka Pacbell Wireless) and Sprint. I would say that Sprint is by far the worst cell phone company I have ever had the misfortune of using. Their customer service is swell - but their "coverage" is pure crap. I get huge gaps while driving home.

I drive down Lawrence Expressway and I always lose coverage right when I drive past Homestead, but it picks up right when I get to 280. What gives? It's about half a mile or so of NO coverage. Anyhow, it gets worse when I travel. I went to LA last weekend and I have no coverage on 101 or 5. Pathetic. I am going to drop them and go with Verizon as soon as my contract runs out.

for me its not that bad. at least i don't get "system is busy" like the pacbell people around here. almost everyone i've met in the dorms is on pacbell. yeesh.

i'm considering jumping to at&t when my plan is up... i just gotta see what they say about roaming around the state. that's why i like sprint now... i go to school in LA but keep my number in the 408 area code, and i don't have to pay "out of home area" charges. rocks. 🙂

Sprint?s digital coverage is pretty darn good in Minneapolis / St. Paul + suburbs and in the year and a half I?ve used it, it keeps getting noticeably better. I was considering switching to AT&T or Verizon, but I?ve kept Sprint PCS for one big reason: It?s their ?house brand? Touch Point phones made by Denso. I?m hooked. I had the original dual band Touch Point (model 120, I believe,) and I thought a phone couldn?t be any better. Well, my old one was starting to look a little ratty and beat up, so I bought a new Touch Point 2100. It?s even easier to use, has a speakerphone and voice commands, has command shortcuts and sounds better to boot.

That?s my rave of the day. Now it?s off to work I go, with my Touch Point phone in my pocket. 🙂

Although I'll get a dropped call while driving anf that's mostly due to terrain, I'm extrememly pleased with Sprint. I find my coverage is actually much larger than they claim it is. ..course, there is NO excuse in a CSR being rude.

I had the same experience with a Sprint CSR, which is why I dropped their sorry service. I live in DFW also, and I could not get a signal at my house or half of the time on a major highway. I then moved to AT&T which was a bit better, but along came Voicestream with their 2 free phones and 4000 minutes and I had to convert 🙂 Cost me 50 bucks to terminate AT&T but I figure I will save that with the extra cell phone and minutes I am getting.

So far I have not had a single complaint with Voicestream so far, and their customer service is excellent. The manager of the store where I purchased my phones sends me a text message every once in a while just to confirm everything is working ok. It feels like the difference in service between the Infiniti and Honda dealerships. I say Voicestream is doing a lot to maintain their customers, I hope they never adopt the sorry attitude Sprint did when they got big.

Agreed. I have Sprint; it's great when I'm in NYC or DC, but as I pull into my driveway I get the little beep that tells me coverage is lost. And, it sounds like the CSRs have been mixing their medications each time I've called. I'm switching. :|

Hmmm . . . I have generally been very pleased with my Sprint PCS service, and I have used my phone in Oklahoma City, New York (all the way out to the tip of eastern Long Island), the Bay Area (well up into Alameda Cty), Chicago, Mpls-St Paul, Boston . . .

In all fairness it is my first cell phone so I have no frame of reference, but I have no home phone and use it a lot with no real complaints. I did have to use the customer-service line for the first time recently (to cancel Wireless Web, which I was never using) and waited on hold for a long time, but since it is a toll-free call, no big deal.

sprint seems to suck for me
i work in downtown fort worth and anywhere in our office, especially the server room, i get crap signals.
my house is like 10 minutes from downtown and i still get crap signals there too
tons of dropped calls and trying to get ahold of a CSR is a long shot
you probably have a better chance at being struck by lightning

No problems for me here in northern VA. It's my only phone service. Has also worked well while I've travelled in Chicago, Nawlins, and San Francisco.

Hmm, I seem to have no trouble with Sprint at all. I'm the LA area and commute from the west side to Pomona a few times a week. Clear coverage everywhere I've ever wanted to use it. Nobody has ever gotten the "full circuits" message while trying to call me, whereas I get it all the time when calling my friend, who is on Pacbell aka Cingular. I bought into Sprint for better service plans, since I could care less about a free phone.
