Hello all!

I am a Sprint PCS customer since 1999 on the same plan, with two phones/numbers.

In trying to get a better deal on my Sprint PCS service, the best offered to me (on my first try of ??) was:

(below shared between two phones!)
1200 anytime minutes
3000 Night/weekend
500 PCS to PCS
first incoming minute free (FIMF)
nationwide long distance (LD)
$69.99 (for both)
new one year contract

(I did not accept this!!)

I now have:

300 anytime minutes
0 night/weekend
0 pcs to PCS
FIMF
LD
$30 each
no contract

In the prior thread (Sprint PCS Unpublished rates - now deleted) people reported getting either:

$30
600 anytime
3000 night/weekend
500 PCS to PCS
FIMF
LD
free wireless web for 6 months to a year, $5/mo after

or

$35.99
650 anytime
3000 night/weekend
500 PCS to PCS
FIMF
LD
free wireless web for 6 months to a year, $5/mo after

What rate deals have you received?? When did you get that rate?

I guess this should be an I wanna know but anyway:

$30
600 anytime
3000 night/weekend
FIMF
LD

Went from a shared 69.99/month to this on two phones ($60 total per month - 10% govt discount) around mid April.

Thanks!

The thread I was referring to (with more recent posts) was removed earlier today.

OK....Much better results with try #2!

New plan (for EACH phone):

650 anytime
3000 nights/weekends (8PM)
LD
FIMF
500 PCS to PCS
Wireless web
.25 extra talk minutes/.39 extra web minutes
$35.99 per phone
1 year contract

So, moral of the story...the rep you speak to makes all the difference! Try again if you aren't satisfied at first.

FWIW - I recently saw an article ( in Money I think ) telling that wireless providers are tring to raise rates
first by changing the off peak hrs and eliminating bonus minutes and "free phones " . I will probably work as well as Intel price increases ( they'll lower them again with reduced demand ) unless there is collusion between them .

I'll probably be getting a PCS phone in the next week. Did you do anything special to get this deal?

2500 anytime
3000 night and weekends
for $100/mo.

A good deal if you need the minutes.

These deals are meant for customer retention. So , if you're a recent customer, they may not be offered. I have been a Sprint customer for 3 years (and was seriously considering switching) before I became aware of this program.

You need to speak to the customer retention department. Say Disconnect after dialing *2 and that should get you to them.

Also, as has been said before, different reps will give you different deals. Try calling back if you're not satisfied. And if you don't LIKE (I mean really LIKE) haggling, this process isn't for you.

Finally, it seems that they periodically change what they offer.

I hope that helps.

Sprint is BOGUS. I got a Sprint phone, but it works like crap at my house. I must live in between two towers or something, because it goes in and out and in and out of service, like every 30 seconds in my house. It does it so much that it runs down the battery in less than 24 hours unless I turn it off when I'm home. Which is not a big deal since peeps should be calling me on my landline when I'm at home. But it still pisses me off that their service is so piss-poor. Their signal is still crappy even about 2 or more blocks away from my house, too.

True and funny: (as of last fall) You could stand in the Sprint campus in Overland Park, KS, see a tower and still not have reception!

I HAD sprint pos and I could never get a reception from home. pissed me off so bad. Called to complain and sprint sent me a $200 phone free of charge. I still got a bad reception so I called to cancel and I was offered all kinds of deals. I eventually cancelled and after ALOT of bitching I got them to waive the $150 cancellation fee

I haven't seen anything in print yet. The plan doesn't go into effect until 6/1.

I WILL be looking for that and, if so, Sprint will get a call.

Hi guys...sorry for my sob story but here it is:

1. I first signed up with Sprint in Nov 2000 with a one year agreement. Before I signed up, I called to see what would happened if I moved in 6mo. (I knew that I would be moving.) They assured me that my number would be changed but my plan would stay the same. So I signed up. After I moved May 2001, I called to change my number. Sprint did that...and more. They canceled my contract and started me with a new one, which had less minutes and costed more...and they charged me a cancellation fee to switch me to the new contract. Their reasoning: the plan I signed up on was no longer available. After some bitching, they refunded my cancellation fee and placed me back on my original plan.

2. In March 2002 (and still on the same original plan), I called to get an unpublished retention plan. On the first attempt, the operator called my bluff on cancellation and said he could not get me any better deal than the ones published in all the stores. Don't know if he was telling the truth or not since I can't recall if I spoke to the retention dept. So I went ahead and cancelled my phone with 5 days left in the billing cycle. Four days later, I called the retention dept. and was offered 550/2000/500pcs/FIMF/one mo free/8pm nights for $29.99/mo. So jumped on this deal. HA!

3. When the bill came April 2002, first mo was free but I was charged $150 for canceling my contract. Their reasoning: I had restarted a new contract when I moved in May 2001 and they didn't count my start time as Nov 2000. So I called and got the cancellation fee refunded...again. Well, when the next bill came, my monthly cost was 39.99/mo and not 29.99 as promised. So I got pissed and cancelled again with 4 days left in the billing cycle. I was promised there would be no cancellation fee because there was a misunderstanding in pricing.

4. I called back to get a retention plan for 29.99/mo like several people got and no go. I must have talked to five CS and they all denied there is such a plan. I was offered they $35.99 plan a couple times. So I called back 4 days after my cancellation and was offered to be placed back on my 39.99/mo retention plan with charge. In fact, the bitchy CS said she would document that there should be no more retention plan offered to me since I had called so many times. With the pleading of my wife, who missed the phone severely, I relunctantly accepted. Now, I am viewing my bill online. Guess what? Sprint charged me again for the cancellation fee. I will be visiting the Sprint PCS store near Tyson's Corner tomorrow. Hopefully, they can correct this.

Certain CS will not budge and the last one I talked to threatened me. If my wife did not like Sprint so much, I would have gone to another carrier. If fact, for my phone, I may still go with someone else. So, if I were you guys, I checked my invoice very closely every month. Too many broken promises, and Sprint by far has the worst CS.

Best of luck.

Man, this is so true. One of the biggest dead spots around Kansas City, which is home to Sprint, is all around the campus. The towers are there but the coverage is not... Speculation is that the tower is overloaded with Sprint workers on their cell phones but I dont know enough about cellular technology to confirm this. Either way, the irony is priceless.

Failsafe.
just got my first bill. unfortunately there was a $10 charge for wireless web. i called to check on it. they said i can only have 2 free options to my 500 anytime and 1000 offpeak $35.99 deal. first was 150 additional anytime, second was 2000 additional offpeak, 3rd was wireless web so i got charged. i asked them to switch the 2000 offpeak for the free wireless. done!

jt

ps. service still sucks nonetheless. i'll cancel after this for sure almost unless they give me a free phone or something. although i like my motorola star tac talkabout. plus not many phones now have wireless web.

Those "decent options" are the published rates available in the stores. I've got the best plan of all the ones you all talked about:
3000 anytime
Wireless web, Voice Command, Ringers and More, First Incoming Minute Free.... all for $.53 a month. Yes, fifty three cents.

HUZZA!
