Is it just me or has sprint stopped making cool phones. I am looking to upgrade my Sanyo SCP-4500 to something smaller with more features and they have nothing! And what the heck is with that damn crab catch game. IDIOTS!! It sucks becasue I am locked in a plan for the next year.:|

I use a Samsung Uproar with my Sprint PCS service - excellent little phone, and it is the only phone/mp3 player (I think). Good size, good battery life, nice functions. I just wish it had customizable ring tones...

sprint pcs used to be cool...like for a year or 2...then i found out they suck

my phone broke of no fault of my own...just stopped working...and it was past warrenty, but i had been paying the $3 insurance fee every month...this was about a year and a half after i got the phone...so thats like $54 of insurance fees

when i called to get a new phone they make u pay something like $38 or something for an insurance charge...in total it was $82 and the phone i got is samsungs low class phone...i had a small sony, but they stopped maknig new additions of it...

i was like...i could have bought a phone for cheaper then that

now im stuck in a year plan in a location that sprint pcs hardly works in...where i used to live at least the service was good so i signed a year contract figuring moving to los angeles they would def have good srvice there...but no...d@mn it!!!

Yeah, I've got the SCH-6100 which is basically the same phone without the MP3 capabilities. I like it, but my reception sucks ever since I dropped it. Oh well, my gf is getting me that new Touchpoint for Christmas, so I won't have to put up with it too much longer. :)

That touchpoint thing looked a little chintzy (am I wrong?) and I don't even think they sell the uproar any longer (plus I have a mp3 player). And WHAT IS WITH THAT CRAB CATCH GAME! They know it sucks, can they really not pay some CS guy $50 to make a better game. It just shows that they don't care!

No way, the Touchpoint has great build quality. When you close it, the hinge resists so that it doesn't smack together, it's got a big screen (plus one on the outside for caller id, voicemail, time, date, etc), and the battery life is supposed to be really good. Plus its damn small, and cheap! I don't know what Crab Catch is, but the Touchpoint has a helicopter shooting game that's not half bad.

I think I will check that touchpoint phone out? It's not dual-band but I have never even used analog anyway. Anyone know anything more about it?

P.S. Anyone want a Sprint PCS Sanyo SCP-4500;)

The TP5200 has problems, the earpeice vibrates and the viberate on the phone isn't strong. Sprint has taken them off the website and is also taking them off the shelfs at Sprint PCS stores. They are discontinuing them they are selling the remaining supplies to Circuit city and Best buy (also other places like these). So don't get this phone. In a cuple weeks there will be the TP5250 which will be the perfected TP5200, they fixed the ear peice and viberate is stronger. Also it will have 3G technology. If you have to get a phone at this point and time I would get the sanyo 6000 which is a flip sanyo with a color screen.

Sprint is rolling out newer phones with 3G technology. I'm guessing there will be a new sanyo in the near future with 3g, flip, and a nice screen. If you want to get the newest and best phone right now and still be cool when 3G rolls out, I would go with the TP5250. Verizon is also going to carry the same phone but the model will be AX1 (i think).

I'm pretty sure the 5200 is dualband. It's the one with the blue inside face, not the all-silver one. I just found out it doesn't have a headphone jack which kinda ticks me off, because I use a headset in my car. Maybe they'll have one that uses the port on the bottom.

EDIT: hmm...thanks for the info, keystroker. I never heard about any of that, but I'm going to tell my gf to wait for the 5250 (I want a 3G phone!!!) :D

Yeah they only have the touchpoint 1100 on the sprintpcs web site. I guess I will wait for the 5250. The Sanyo-6000 has too little features for the $300 price tag.

I have the 6000, and I think it's worth every penny. It has all the features of the 4500 sans the speakerphone (which IMO was the best thing ever) and is the thinnest phone on the planet.

Three words to sum it up: Chicks dig it. ;)

If there was ever a personal electronic device that gets you some booty, then this is it. :D

Gripes? Battery life is a tad short and I have a loose wire in mine that makes it abruptly turn off at times, but reception is beyond excellent (on par with the 4500) and voice quality is great.

The Touchpoint 5200 is awesome. The Samsung N200 is much better than the 3500. And there is that one phone(I forget the model, we just got it in at CC) that is really thin...that phone is awesome too.

Sprint PCS ? The S stands for Suck.

Fact is, there is no uber provider. I used to use Sprint, but now I go with Vercrapzon. I gave the SPCS phone to my mom because I?m stuck paying through April, and someone should get some use from it.
