Sprint PCS - credit for dropped calls

I don't know if this was posted in the past; if it was, I'll get this deleted.

Every month, I have a few calls that are dropped on the Sprint network. To credit you for this, Sprint will let you claim up to 20 dropped calls a month via their automatic customer service line (hit *2, then talk on your phone to connect to customer solutions). Each dropped call credits you $.50. So, each month, I call in my dropped calls, and have $10 taken off automatically.

All you do is...

1. Punch in *2, then talk to connect to customer solutions.
2. Voice will tell you to press "1" for Engrish.
3. When the computer voice asks you what they can help you with, say "drop call." I guess "dropped call" would work too, but I've never had a problem with "drop call."
4. You'll get a $.50 credit. In the past, you could do this 20 times on one call, but now, they limit you to 4 or 5 per call. No sweat, just hang up, and call again to get a few more.

Whenever I sit down to pay my sprint bill, I do this. It only lets you do it once a month. Please don't flame me either, b/c I use this phone for work, and with ~1,000 peak minutes a month, and a crapload of night minutes used, while travelling on the interstate, I definitely experience the dropped calls. I'm just trying to give my fellow AT'ers a heads up.

Flame you?? Yeah right. If I was with Sprint still I'd do this every month too. The never sent the rebate for my phone and gouged me for $130 once when I was on a $40 plan. Anyway, enough of my complaining. . . great post for those with Sprint. To my knowledge they are the only big provider doing this - and you don't have to talk to a CSR!!!

BTW - I don't think there's a way around dropping call on interstates; doesn't that occur because you get out of range of the tower you're connected through and have to switch to another?

for me, it's not just the interstate where my calls are dropped. I've been sitting in my apartment and I'll still have my signal lost.

"The never sent the rebate for my phone" Me 2 :|

Ah, thanks! I had once heard about this but couldn't remember the details.

The SOBs at Sprint didn't send our rebates either. I called them on it, and they gave me some BS about "date invalid". I yelled (well, was stern with) the CSR pointing out that I mailed it within a week of getting the phones. He checked and saw, no way! They received the forms eight or nine days after we bought the phones. :shock; Really? Anyway I let the guy know what I thought of their insurance-company-esque tactics (auto-denying first claim kind of thing). The guy told me I needed a more positive attitude, LOL (I informed him that my attitude would be more positive once I had the bleeping rebate checks). The guy said we should get the rebate check in a week or two. No love yet, but this was all of a week ago at most.

I`ve used this a couple times but all I got was a 1 minute credit to my air time.
Is the 50 cent adjustment something new that just started?

no, when they gave you a "1 minute credit", all the did was credit you $.50. If you listen to what they say, it says you'll "receive a credit for 1 minute of airtime at the highest local airtime rate." the highest per minute rate would be $.50/minute.

can I do this for each phone?

I just ordered a phone for my wife on my plan, and it worked on hers too. I had done my 20 dropped calls on my line about a week before, so I'm assuming you'll be able to do it on all lines.

We'll be saving $20/month b/c of this.

Yeah, we can see if that will work. I don't know about it though since I added her to my plan and signed another 2 year agreement (got the fair and flexible plan).

This happens for me too. I get a moderate signal in my apartment, but sometimes it'll just drop and say "signal fade" while I'm sitting on the couch, talking on my phone. It never happened with TMobile.

I put about 1200 daytime minutes onto this phone each month and about 1600 night and weekend... and I don't use it for business!

I'm totally going after this.
