What cell phone service provider has better coverage and is worth the money in your experiences? I see a very nice deal for Sprint right now, but have to move in on it by the end of the day. Not sure what Cingulair has going for them other than my dad said I should get them with no real reason.

I live in LA. Here, (and pretty much most of Southern California), Cingular is crap.

Long live Sprint! (What I have. 'Twas between Cingular and Sprint, and despite the free nights and weekends offer they had back then, I chose Sprint because you have a hard time getting (good) service with Cingular, or connecting at all.

Yeah, to my knowledge, Spring and Cingulair are the only two choices I have out here in West Texas. Our coverage is small and even with those two, it's limited to about 10 miles outside of the city it appears, unless I'm reading the coverage maps incorrectly.

[edit] whoops, didn't see your last post.

All I can say is, Cingular is complete crap.

it takes me like 6 calls to reach my friends cingular phone....and then i just get their voicemails...then they get it like 2 hours later. When they they get a voice mail....they can't even access it...i would sue cingular if i was their customer.

Well, Nextel doesn't have service for your Zip code (79201). Bummer. :(

I was a Pac Bell user before it was Cingular and after they became Cingular. IMHO all cell phone companies are about the same they have down spots. The only reason I switched to Sprint was the great phone choices. I didnt have bad expiriences with Cingular and I dont have any with Sprint. As for minutes and phones I like Sprint better and have heard good things about Verizon also.

Actually, 79201 is only my summer zip code. My all other months zip code is 79406. Cingulair looks like it might be the best choice even though they have crappy service according to the majority of the people. This is simply because of the fact that they offer regional service with no roaming fees, which means I could use it during summer and other months at same rate, per my understanding.

<< heh heh... the petition lives on:

That "petition" is so full of crap. I can't believe people actually b1tch about stuff like that. WTF do people expect when you pay so little? Everone knows Cingular is crap almost everywhere, yet they still get their service and continue it, and yet still complain about it. Someone explain that to me...

do not know about your area, but heard that sprint coverage is patchy near the Dallas area, but it is still supposed to be the best around..

I have been with Sprint since sometime in 98... never have had a major prob. with roaming.. then again I use it on the east coast and mid west mostly.

this is really funny.. I had Sprint for over two years and they SUCKED... unless they really did update their network.

I have cingular right now... I had the 300min and unlimited nights and weekends... but I was at times using 300 more peak minutes... which was extremly costly.

I have to admit that the cingular reps rule... the guy I spoke to told me I was fortunate I called him the day before my billing cycle came to an end... he gave me 175 bonus minutes to offset all my peak minutes (155x$0.40) and then he swapped my plan to one where I pay $10 more ($49.00) and I get 650 peak minutes... on top of that he through in another 150 bonus minutes giving me 800 any-time minutes... and instead of unlimited nights and weekends I have 3500 minutes which is about 58 hours... alot more than the 1800 minutes I usually use.

the best deal was ATT in Jan... they had a plan that gave 450 anytime and unlimited night and weekends for $29.00 a month.

Where I go to school (cal poly pomona), on campus the service sucks... The cell that services our location of WAY overloaded, resulting on 'no ring' situations or unable to access voicemail or just system busy.

I like the 8290 though, just because it is small... Even though it doesn't have alot of cool features like speaker phone or multible numbers per name...

Right now I'm stuck with cingular for a little (350/unilmited plan)

Cingular sucks!!! <---- I'll back it up with my experience with them. Also if you're going to travel please leave your phone at home chances are you'll get charge for roaming. I had to paid long distance even for those calls that I never did picked up. :| their coverage area isnt that great either. I'll switch to AT&T once my contact expires.
