Ok, had this sprint broadband installed this past monday...if you're not familiar with it you can check it out here sprint broadband
Ok, sometimes when i test the linespeed at either dslreports, speedtest, or computingcentral.msn.com i get screaming speeds like +2mb...sometimes i'm way down like 200kb, and the upload is terrible. i've tried all the applicable tweaks at dslreports such as rwin size, mtu path discovery...etc. and it seems to get worse whatever i do!!! my nic may be a problem so i'm switching that out saturday and am going to try this on my w2k box tonight (all these problems are on a win98se box)

I'm a CCNA for goodness sakes! i should be able to figure this out!!! HELP!

It all has to do with the point of contentions of the Net.
Providers all try to connect via the MAE's (PAX's etc) so if your Access Point is distant from the MAE's, your provider may have to go through people it has peering agreements with. So it really depends on time of day, congestion etc.. on the net.

Also, in the case of the Sprint Wireless Broadband, you're NOT getting a routed network. The termination point is all bridged. So you're sharing your connection with EVERYONE else in your Boardband group. So you can thank all your net neighbors for chewing up your shared bandwidth.
