it's too GD bad that i hate the players and the owners because I love baseball.

Astros all the way baby!

(were i a realist, that would read "all the way to second place NL Central).

And if not the Astros, the chisox.

And on the way I'll make my MVP and Cy Young predictions:

NL: Lance Berkman (Barry bonds will break his leg in April and be out for the rest of the season).
Roy Oswalt will win the Cy Young with a 2.56 ERA

AL: Magglio Ordon~ez
cy young winner is Bosox starter Derek Lowe

I agree. The WS is at least entertaining where as the NBA Finals and the Suprerbore are usually dreaful to watch.

Baseball has always been my love and yes the strike in 1994 pissed me off and people like George Steinbrenner are a$$holes but how many of you love spending an afternoon in the sun watching a ball game...There is nothing better...like being in heaven

Too damn expensive. I'd much rather go to a little league game where I don't have to pay and the kids play for the love of the game.

yeah i agree that the strike ruined it for me. Also being a proud Philadelphian, i was in dismay when the Phillies lost the World Series on that Joe Carter home run. Those two things did it for me.

Braves were idiots to let him go. Hampton was certainly a bargain, but it's not a sure thing that he'll return to his pre-Rockies form with us. We certainly have excellent pitching coaches, but it's still a big question mark. I'm also waiting for Jason Marquis, who seems to have so much potential, to start winning 15+ games per season (of course it would help if we gave him some damn run support once in a while).

very very true...the thing with Millwood is that we really had no choice...if it were up to me I would have got rid of maddux...he is good but that weak off speed stuff isn't as good anymore...you need that overpowering fast ball

Overpowering fastball + something offspeed/breaking + third pitch of any kind = the winning combination IMO. Steve Avery was exactly that back in the early 90s- low-90's fastball......huge banana curveball that looked like it was coming from first base to left-handed batters......and various slider-type stuff. Get them trying to time the fastball and then lock their knees or get them way out ahead of the curve or changeup. Also why Smoltz is downright spooky as a closer. I almost felt sorry for opposing batters last year.
