Sprained my ankle today. Wasn't doing anything but walking. My ankle twisted, heard a pop, and fell to the ground. For a while, it didn't feel too good and felt like it was almost asleep. Now it's all swollen up and hurts when I try to walk or move it. Only thing that helps is the medicine and the air splint. I live on the 3 floor of my apartment building and it sucks trying to go up and down.

dude, u didn't ice it immediately?!?!? ice it NOW, for no more than 20 minute intervals, and do that every few hours. then take a few advil or other anti-inflamatories every few hours to reduce the swelling. stay away from heat!

That sucks, so I take it you went to the doctor right? Keep it elevated and rotate cold 20min to help with swelling. :)

-Scarfase99 has the right idea also.

Went to the ER about an 1 1/2 hours after it happened. Would have went earlier but I wasn't close to any doctors or hospital's and had to drive home to go to one. I've been taking my medicine and icing it ever so often and keeping it elevated.

did they laugh you out of the ER? unless you got shot and twisted your ankle you wasted your time. i'd say you wasted their time, but dealing with that was probably like taking a break.

He did the right thing by going to the ER. Just to make sure his sprained ankle wasn't something more serious is worth going and getting it checked out. You don't fsck around with those kinds of injuries.
