The LFA seems surprisingly slow...

Pretty interesting. While there is some consistency, it really does kinda show how little peak horsepower plays in the dynamics of a car.

The 730HP Audi hangs with the 550-650HP crowd.. lol.

And the 624HP 997 hangs with the 700-800HP crowd. Impressive.

"weight: 2045 kg"

cause nearly 1000lbs will never make a difference in performance. EVER.:hmm::hmm:

Look at the Veyron. Either the Porshe is lying about making 1000hp, or the Veyron is making way more than 1000 hp.

Both are 4wd/AWD....the Veyron is 500kg HEAVIER, and is faster 0-200km/h.

It isn't until 300km/h where the wing in handling mode slows the Veyron down due to drag.

Could be the power curve as well - Veyron may have more power all the time, even if they eventually peak at about the same number.

Traction and aerodynamics. I've never seen a review of the Veyron where the tester had trouble putting the power down which is very unusual for a car with that much power. Additional weight isn't always a bad thing. Especially when you're just going in a straight line. When hitting 185mph, aerodynamics do matter quite a bit.

A stock factory built luxury stationwagon beating a tuned Nissan GT-R is quite an impressive feat.

yeah, the veyron has an 8L W16 with FOUR TURBOS. it also has ridiculous tires and aero, as pariah mentions.

compared to the 4.2L (i think) twin turbo RS6.

Those RS6's are anything but stock.. but impressive nonetheless.

I'm quite surprised a stock Z06 tears the LFA a new one. More than a 5 second difference.

Of course I'm aware of weight/performance issues. 😛

It's still interesting. The 624HP 997 weighs about the same as the rest of the cars around it.

Didn't we already know the LFA was all looks and little function? But the Z06 beating it hands down just proves they can't produce a true supercar.

The Veyron makes way more than 1000hp, 3000hp in fact. Most of it is lost to thermal losses and such. Saw it on a Veyron documentary (IIRCE it was on HDNet).

According to the wiki page, it's faster than the Z06 around the 'Ring (listed as a Sport Auto time versus a GM time, in case you were wondering), which seems a more practical test of the vehicle's abilities. Either way, it's fscking fast 😉

The above test is interesting, but seems pretty much irrelevant in terms of driving these cars, unless all you intend to do is to drive from 0-300kmh and then slam on the anchors, rinse and repeat.

Basically, it's an armchair nerd's dream 😉 Effectively meaningless statistics which allow people to express contempt or admiration for vehicles that they're almost certainly never going to be able to afford, thus making it all rather academic and not a little tragic 😉

To be fair, Vette has been around how long now? Experience is everything on cars. Also, it could be the braking.

Never mind about the braking comment. I didn't look at the detailed numbers at first. 143kg diff between the two cars yet the heavier LFA stopped in a shorter time, it brakes better.

Dug, you are back! I wouldn't call this meaningless since it does show a combined acceleration and braking performance.

That I am 🙂

It doesn't show the full picture, and I think it's fair to argue that while both of those factors are extremely important, they don't tell you anything about how fast you can actually punt it around a corner, or a succession of corners, somewhat like a racetrack or indeed a real-world road 😉

Plus it leads to armchair experts announcing with glee that one car is 'all looks and little function' and another car is better on those figures alone. Sure, in that example, car A he mentions is faster than car B, but unless you're buying your car to do 0-300-0kmh all day long, then whoopee sh1t 😉

Of course, I forget that everything is black and white online 🙂

The most impressive thing to me is the 911 GT2 RS. Shows how important aerodynamics and gearing are (or how underrated it is). Tears the ZR1 a new one. (corvettes in general have pretty crappy aero)

Also, the 911T is definitely underrated. I'd say it's making closer to 600hp than 500hp.

lololol first generation product. You obviously don't know how business works.

I love how the Evora couldn't keep the Supercharger in its pants either. People thought it was gonna be slow lol. <- my next car

Corvette is like Generation 6 and looks like ass lol.

OMG boost yo lol
