it is all pretty simple really, i dont know why some of you can't understand it.
1) You need to take the medallion OUT OF THE CHEST ITSELF. Passing it along does not give the curse to others.
2) Before the pirates realized they needed EVERYONE's blood who grabbed a medallion, they threw Bootstrap overboard. The pirates all repayed their debts with their blood but the curse was not lifted because Bootstrap's medallion was still missing and also his blood payment. So basically, they threw him overboard, then later found out they needed his blood cuz he also took a gold piece from the chest.
3) Since William Turner is Bootstrap's son, he is his blood, and therefore able to repay the blood debt.
4) Later, Jack Sparrow grabs medallion out of the chest and fights Barbossa. When he shoots Barbossa, he cuts himself and throws the medallion to Turner who is standing above the chest and all the blood debts are payed and all the medallions are back in. So the curse is lifted.
Yeah, seriously, I didn't want to say anything but somebody else agrees that it wasn't that difficult to understand. But whatever, sometimes I don't get stuff in movies if I goto the little boy's room or people talk too much. Also, with #3, thats why they took the girl, Kiera Knightley, to sacrifice at first because they assumed she was the offspring of Bootstrap when she said that her last name was Turner, which of course wasn't true. That is why Jack Sparrow thought that he had trading leverage because he knew that Will Turner Jr. was the person Barbossa and company needed to lift the curse. This seemed like a major story arc to me since it extended the movie considerably...
