Split off "News" from P&N, merge back in with Off Topic!

I think most of us agree that ATOT hasn't been the same since P&N was created.

I fully recommend that P&N be turned into P&R (Politics and Religion), and NEWS can be brought over to the good side.

Definitely. ATOT used to be my primary news source, but now it has turned into endless parody threads and the like, nothing of any actual substance. The politics would be left to P&R. It would be much more appropriate to have the forum dealing with politics and religion, and let the news be in OT for the majority of us who would like to hear and discuss the news without the GIVEN flamefest that erupts in every single thread in P&N. This would *hopefully* help increase the maturity level in ATOT just a little bit, because lately it has become insane. I hardly ever even venture over here anymore because every single post seems like it is coming from a junior high kid.

Hell, giving ATOT it's news back could be the saving grace of this forum, because as of now both ATOT and P&N are turning to sh!t.

While I agree that P&N threads generally turn into flamefests, I don't think remerging it with OT will help. That might actually make it worse considering there are lots more people in OT that don't know what the hell they're talking about when it comes to politics and news.

This wouldn't be hard either. All you're doing is changing the rules and slightly altering the description of the forum cateogies. Except for that few minutes of changes, it won't have any of the overhead splitting the games/apps/programming would have.

I remember when news was posted in OT all the time, everything was reposted X5 & locked constantly, at least P&N is smaller & the mods can keep track of the news reposts easier.

I think it would be nice if we could discuss NEWS topics in OT rather than P&N. Also rename P&N to P&R.

And Pliablemoose, so news would get reposted. Big deal. Are we worried that with threads discussing world events gets posted more than once, other of ATOT's mature and insightful threads such as "POLE-Is your car a female or male?" or "Are your feet bigger than your SO's feet?" will receive less attention?

I think this is an idea worth pursuing rather than just saying "Yeah, that'd be nice." Perhaps bring that "Change of culture" that was supposed to happen.

Sadly, you can't really talk about the news without talking about P&R, they compose too much of the news. Any sort of merger would eventually lead the trolls back here.

I could go for that. I remember that there was a long period where not matter what someone told me or showed me, i had already seen it here first. And there were some really good discussions/banter/debates on stuff...

like the thread about the radio station and the 100 grand.
