Split desktop into two?

I would like something like ... LCD/TV doing split screen, one playing video while the other doing works.

I wonder if there is such program can do it.

It's easy to find virtual desktop or dual screen software, but not what I'm looking for.

Umm... ever hear of Windows? You could have one window to do your work on and another to watch the movie in...

well, you can't maximize two windows side by side. It's not microsoft word/excel.

Maximize means exactly that - Fill to fit available space on the desktop.

You are indicating that you do not want to do so.

Tile horizontally?

Windows offers you a tiling function that will do what you seem to be asking for.
right click on the tool bar and select your poison. The size of the final windows are dependent on how well the programs plays with the OS and how many program windows you have active.
