I would like to get Splinter Cell Chaos Theory. I see there is the option of getting it from Thailand for cheaper. Is there any disadvantage to that version?

What? Chaos Theory for PC? I'm not sure what you mean. Shipping it over from Thailand will probably cost as much as the game. If you mean you are in Thailand right now and have found it for cheap, then by all means pick it up. Just make sure its legit (meaning it comes from a big store and has a semi-box).

Seems like most new pc games you see on ebay are sent from Thailand. I'm not sure how legit they are but I'd rather not fool around and just wait until you find it being sold for cheap in your country. Usually pc games get dirt cheap after a couple of months or at least you'll find good used copies for cheap these days as the game is kinda "old".

from asia the games are slightly different

the language to the game may differ from actual English

I've seen Final Fantasy 8 from Asia, English version, and it is practically the same... just a little nicer CD coloring image, sometimes the painting is slighly faded, hinting that the manufacturing process down there is a little hindered for art production possibly (for some titles depending on what part of Asia)

You may experience compatibility problems and missing CD's that would originally come with the full North America version. Like someone said earlier, if all goes well, the shipping will spike a rocket on the bill.

In my opinion, just get a used copy at gamestop
