Splinter Cell: Conviction

Buggy as hell...wow...

Look at my rig...pretty awesome all things considered...running it at 1680x1050 at max settings NO AA I get like 30fps with lag down to the 10's...on indoor areas...wow...

Game keeps crashing on second level...wow...

Game is still badass though, definitely still feels like a Splinter Cell game, but damn, was this thing not tested on more than one machine before release? DRM is still a bitch...cant wait for a crack AND patch...

Uhh...what the hell? So it's not well optimized? Damn...that's rather annoying...

Dude...its so badly optimized its sicks. I mean, even it doesnt scale well with Crossfire game should still have no issues even with a single 4890. Not only that but it crashes all the time! Game is good though...Ive noticed though that all the new "cool" stuff kinda gets normal and not as cool real quick though :-(

Oh well...heres to good multiplayer though!

Damn I was hoping this would be better than the DA release. Glad I cancelled my preorder.

Damn...either my PC is acting up (yeah right!) or Conviction just made my PC crash...like restart crash...wow...

And I must say that the save points suck major balls too...it saves like once during the halfway point of the mission...its making me run through the levels instead of acting all stealthy and clearing the whole base. Why? Cause Ill spend 30 minutes getting all headshots and what not to have some schmuck shoot me from behind, kill me, then I gotta start the whole damn thing over again...

I dont know, story line is classic, love it, game play is solid, thats a given, but the rest is like WTF really?

EDIT: I must say that the crashing is annoying to no end, but thats really the only problem Ive encountered...it is NO Double Agent...that game was a horrid port, if not the worst...well, next to Iron Man...

OK...for those of you that need help make sure to download the new 10.4 drivers for ATi and the 10.4a Hotfix...seems to have made the crashes go away and the performance is MUCH better...like, Im running 8xAA max everything no problem performance.

Hope this helps!

You bought one of the new ubi drm games, anything that happens to your pc for it are well deserved.

I don't understand why anyone would buy a "big budget" PC game on release anymore. They are almost always sloppy rushed ports that need a few patches to even be playable. Most of them are ported by underpaid dev teams from India so the publisher can make a few extra bucks a minimal cost.

Plus, shame on anyone who bought this on PC and supported UbiSh*t and their ridiculous DRM scheme.

This game needs a patch more than any other game I think Ive ever played.

Theres no quick saving, checkpoints are so far in between its absolutely fucking ridiculous, and theres are only a few but MAJOR game play glitches. Like one glitch has it to where your gun is always in fire mode. Unless Im doing something wrong, when in this mode (and Ive yet to find an absolute way to get out of it) if you say pull out your secondary weapon (in my case something like an SMG, shotty, what have you) the gun will just start firing uncontrollably...like nothing you do can stop it second to the ammo running out...

The ATI drivers fixed a lot if not all glitches and crashes...but this game is seriously over due for a patch...I KNOW my PC is not the only one in the entire world thats having these problems nor do I believe that NONE of these apparent glitches that Ive been reading about all over the net NEVER popped up once when beta testing...if they even did so...

Either way, its still a good game, theres just a bunch of shit that they took away from the others that they shouldnt have...like hiding bodies...why would they NEED to take this feature away? Like, whats the point? There are some missions where you can ONLY use stealth...and if caught its mission over...cant hide bodies...makes said missions 100000x harder than they need to be...its sick, really is...

/end rant

No hiding bodies, no night vision/other vision gadgets, no noise awareness, unlimited silenced pistol ammo....exactly how is this a splinter cell game again? Also, it runs like crap and isn't even very pretty. This game sucks.

Also, I haven't looked how much of the "assistance" stuff you can turn off, but seriously the game is practically telling me what to do. "Press Space to jump" with a big arrow pointing at a pipe over my head.

Weak game is weak, which is hugely disappointing, considering Chaos Theory is one of my all time favourites.

For once I agree with everything you've said! Chaos Theory was a master piece compared to this...um...action game...

QFT! Chaos Theory was an incredible game. I was late to the Splinter Cell party and only just finished it about a month ago, and I was really stoked to see there were games after it. But... well, let's just say they were textbook examples of what console ports do to once great PC games (which is weird considering Chaos Theory was also released on consoles).

I knew Conviction was going to be a fail game the moment I read they were "refining" the stealth aspect to make it more "accessible."

Slooooowwww down there buster...I wouldnt quite say that Conviction is a fail...it has an EXCELLENT storyline and the game isnt bad its just not REALLY a "Splinter Cell" game. I still had hella fun with it, its just no Chaos Theory is all...

HUGE disappointment. Even if it weren't buggy as hell, it's just weak. Controls are clumsy and are clearly meant for the controller, stealth is almost non-existent. You can use stealth, or you can just fight. Doesn't matter. And when you do fight out in the open, they forget where you are every time they lose sight of you and act like idiots. What a SHAME.

I run this game on both my 920 5870 xfire system and my my x6 1090T and it runs very well on both. I do think xfire scaling sux right now but one card does great with either the 4890 or the 5870. I have not crashed once in the 6 or so hours I have in the game. What did piss me off was my wireless xbox receiver and controller didnt work properly till I updated to Microsoft beta drivers for the receiver.
Not as tactically challenging as some of the earlier titles to be sure. But for an action oriented game thats been dumbed down for the masses its still been fun.

Play the game with a xbox controller then say it sucks...

I've never played played a Splinter Cell game before.

I like Hitman...is the gameplay similar? Should I start with the original 2002 game or is that crap?

If you can get the original for cheap - try that first. This one is a bit different - you don't have the ultra cool stealth suit, but you do have the toys [remote camera, EMF bomb/pack, grenades, etc] and it does require a little bit of stealthiness. Some people say it feels like the tv show 24...
