Finally got around to installing Chaos Theory and I gotta say the game looks really nice in SM3 mode with parallax mapping and soft shadows enabled.

I think it's on par if not a bit better than FEAR

Anyway is it possible to have AA in SM3 mode?? When you put the ingame option to SM3 mode, the AA drop down box gets greyed out. I accidentally had 4AA enabled through ATI Tray tools and I realize I didn't really notice much jaggies but I'm not sure if it was doing the job. So does anyone know, is it possible to force AA through the drivers for this game while in SM3 mode??

On what settings arae you able to run it?
you are using oced cpu and that card on a 420watts? isn't it better to upgrade psu?

my friend i think did enable AA in this game?
are you able to do 1600X1200 MAX 4x AA and 16x AF at >40fps

CT is a great game!!! I suppose, you could try it a really awful res like 640x480, and see if turning on AA in the drivers makes a difference or not - it's bound to show up more at a lower res. Oh, and ignore the guy above about your PSU - it's fine! ;)

I run it at 1280x1024 (highest res on my monitor) with everything cranked up(AA settings are greyed out like I said though when in SM3 mode and softshadows, parallax mapping, hardware shadows enabled) and get around 45-50fps average and actually it never dips below 40fps.
And yes I run all this on my 420w PSU. The OCZ Powerstream 420w PSU actually gives 30A on the 12v rail (it's not a dual rail PSU).

?? huh?? My cpu is overclocked...my PSU is stock;)

Anyway, I just tried forcing 4AA in the drivers. Nothing doing, it doesn't work, lots of visible aliasing and there is no fps drop with it enabled. Oh and I just realized my fps goes to about 65-70fps average when I turn my nightvision off(too bad you gotta play most of the game with nightvision on).

I love this game too. Apart from the broken multiplayer co-op mode and starforce hassles, this easily ranks as the best game I've played in the last two or three years.

I'm not sure how to use AA though. Are you using HDR? This game doesn't support HDR+AA. Also, if you want to turn on HDR with an ATI X1 card, use the older 1.3 version, which allows you to get the true FP16 HDR. It apparently doesn't let you do that on the newer versions that have the SM2 mode added in.

Great game till I heard about the starforce fiasco. It was installed on my old drive but I am leary about putting it on the new one. After the first two, this one seems to leave me a little bored. I could not put down the first two. go figure.

Hmm...didn't know about the FP16 HDR. I'll give it a whirl.

As far as I know, the Splinter Cell engine is not compatible with Anti Aliasing, at least with Multi Sampling, you should check if enabling Super Sampling may help to clear out, But I really doubt it, is a compatability problem with the engine itself. An issue that affects every card.
