Graphically I don't see a difference running this on ultra 1080p with the two different dx 9 or 11 modes. I may play some missions over again because I may be close to the end.

It will remind you of the old games. Not 100% like the old ones but it's a lot better than conviction. Guards move around more freely and sometimes there are a lot of them. You can use many different methods to get by. Levels seem to be pretty large too. I would say each mission can last up to 40 min if you take the stealthy route. Stealth will require patience.

^^^ This is why I ordered it today. I miss those old school stealthy games.

Dear All:

Am thinking of purchasing a copy of the game but, before doing so, I have a few questions I'm hoping you all might be able to answer:

1) If the game is purchased via Steam, will I also have to install Uplay and play the game through Uplay?

2) Does the game permit manual quick-saves or is it checkpoint only?

Thanks, in advance, for any help or info you all might be able to provide.

Regards,

Regards,

1) The game requires Uplay regardless of where you purchase it. So yes, the Steam version uses Uplay. It's not a big deal though; Uplay runs in a special "Steam-mode" where it bypasses the fluff and only requires that you log into your Ubi account. Ultimately, all it really does is add a few seconds to the game's start-up time (assuming you have auto-login turned on).

2) No quicksaving. Checkpoints only.

Watched a Giantbomb quick look of this. Will there ever again be action games where you don't have:
"kill! +2000 XP! brah!"
in the middle of the screen every 30 seconds? I don't know why this bug me but it does. It did make me want to play the older splinter cell though..

Are there any other NVIDIA users here that use SLI and played this game? I'm currently running two GTX 670's in SLI and for some reason, only one GPU is being used and I have SLI enabled, and am using the latest beta drivers 326.80 which added the Blacklist profile.

I've read that other people are running into the same issue with other 600 and 700 series cards, but I don't know if it's something that'll be fixed in another driver update or if it's something on Ubisoft's end.

I've gotten into stealth type games lately and this is my first Splinter Cell game to actually play.

What other SC games are recommended? I've got Chaos Theory and Conviction in my Steam backlog, but never got around to playing them.

My favorite one was chaos theory. Definitely play that one. Pandora tomorrow was ok but I also liked the first game better than Pandora.

I actually never finished chaos theory. I didn't realize they had it on pc. I remember first playing it on the original Xbox.

After you played blacklist you may find the older games a bit more difficult. There is no option to kill everyone...many times if you get spotted mission is over.

Chaos Theory is still the best SC game, although Blacklist comes fairly close.

That's unfortunate. I have neither the time nor the inclination to be hamstrung by stupid checkpoint systems.

Suppose I'll be sticking with Chaos Theory for the time being.

Thanks for the info.

I prefer the checkpoints. They are not that hard to get to and a lot of times if helps if you screw up and want to take a stealthy or not approach. Sure, saving anytime is good too. It's not as hard to die in this game as it is in chaos theory or the earlier game.

I dislike anytime saves. The whole kill a dude save kill a dude save kill a dude save thing that PC gamers do makes pretty much all games boring and easy.

Anyone else having issues logging into Shadow.net or multiplayer after the latest patch (v1.02)? Worked fine prior to the patch, but now I can't login or go online.

Have forwarded ports, checked firewall settings, etc. with no luck.

Very early in this game but disappointed thus far. I thought Conviction handled most of the major game elements a hell of a lot better than this game. Just got killed by some dude with an ak who spotted me in the shadows from 15 feet away, and this is after I shot him three times in the chest/head.

Is it just me or is shooting people relatively useless in this game? It's like they gave up on Splinter Cell and decided to make it Assassins Creed.
