Splicing two sets of speaker wire together... extra sound or big fire?

TallBill

Lifer
The sub on my speakers controlls the outs to the front and rear channel. The rear channel is dead.. so basically i got 2 working speakers on the front channel working just fine.. and two "rear" speakers sittin here doin nothin.. can i combine two on the front, and two on the back? its just plain ole speaker wire.. but like i said.. only two live spots to hook up to

Well you could wire them in parallel but you would have to put a resistor in line too so you lower the impedience back down to what it was( I am assuming 8 ohms since if you had a high end amp you wouldn't need to worry).
