Wow, how come i have not heard that Miyazaki produced a new film?

Just saw the trailer and it looks pretty cool.

For those of you that are not farmiliar with Miyazaki, he produced anime master pieces such as Totoro, Kiki's Delivery service, Princess Mononoke etc.

Dude, WATCH THIS! I'm not kidding. If you like anime at all this is an AWESOME movie. I saw it at the SF Film Festival this spring, and man was it good. A couple of the people who made it showed up and gave a speech. The audience BOOed when Disney's name was mentioned ;) Pretty darn funny.

It was actually released in Japan in 2001, but translation and dubbing for American audiences took until earlier this year. In general, I eschew dubbing, but the care and translation for the American dub of Mononoke Hime (Princess Mononoke) was just about flawless. That the work was overseen by John Lasseter gives me a lot of confidence that similar care was taken this time.

I watched the trailer a few times this morning, and the visuals are stunning.

Wow is right, I didn't realize that Miyazaki had a new film. Anyways, it's finally out today and it's showing at the El Capitan in Los Angeles. Looks like a great movie!

I rented it on DVD few weeks ago, it was intersting, definetly different and basicly just weird. Not sure what age group its aimed at because the theme and the characgers are aimed at kids while the story is too deep to be for kids, but all the same it was fun to watch.

I saw the Japenese version of this movie about a month ago.

It was amazing.

I say anyone who likes animated movies should go see this movie as soon as it comes out.

Usenet is my friend! I can't wait to see it in the theaters, though. Hope I can convince my wife to see it.

Do either of you know if it's playing anywhere closer to Orange County?

I just saw this movie in downtown Chicago. It was good, but it wasn't great. I liked Mononoke a lot more. It's still a good flick though.

I liked Mononoke more as well, but this is definitely a movie you don't want to miss. Very entertaining and VERY weird.

It's a great movie. I enjoyed it more than Mononoke since it is far less pretentious but it felt a bit rushed.

The DVD is available overseas.

Tried to d/l it, but Kazaa hasn't been working too well on my campus lately. It still looks like an awesome movie.
