hello
i spilt a beer on my logitech wirelese cordless keyboard in the top left corner of the keyboard. it was working fine after that and then a few hours later it stopped working. a day later it now works perfectly except the buttons such as the play and pasue button and stop and fast forward and all the logitech buttons dont work properly... they all do something just not what they are meant to do. example when i push the play button, the volume goes up

does anyone know if this is software or ive just stuffed my keyboard?

thanks very much

Wash it over with water, and let it dry for a few days.

That's just me.

PS That's what you get for drinking and typing

I spilt a orange juice (we were drinking screw drivers) on my roommates keyboard... and it was one of those non-default types w/ a really strange key next to a descreased in size backspace button, so whenever he wanted to backspace, he hit this stupid key... WELL, somehow the orange juice i spilt made that stupid key stick... so he was glad i spilled orange juice on it....

If it were a plain $10 keyboard i would say put water on it and put in a dry warm environment to dry out the water...but im not sure id try w/ a nice logitech keyboard....... good luck w/ that

acetone would work well but make sure not to drop a lit cigarette on the acetone its highly flammable

I lost my Natural Keboard Pro by spilling carbonated malt beverage on it. It dissolved the electrical paint traces printed on the plastic sheets inside. Your keyboard will probably never be the same again.

I spilled a tall glass of pina colada on mine, horribly sticky afterwards. I gave it a very thorough wash in my bathtub, letting water run through it strongly. Let it dry for 3 days and works perfectly now.

Just replace the keyboard and accept it as one of life's lessons learned. :)

Object Lesson: Never wait when you spill into a keyboard - always easiest to get rid of completely when the spill is fresh.

. Don't compound problem by unplugging a PS/2 kbd while powered up!

. Get a gallon (or two) of dh2o* (distilled water - 70 cents/gal at WalMart here) - everyone should always keep some on hand - it doesn't go bad. WARM (not hot) two quarts or so in a pan, take the batteries out of the keyboard (if any), rinse keyboard out well (slowly to allow the dh20 to carry the nasty stuff away) with about a quart of the warm dh2o - concentrate on the area where the spill occurred, hold it up by one corner and shake and hang until the waste stops dripping out. Do it all again, hang and shake and drain again. You can follow that with a rise of rubbing alcohol - helps carry any remaining waste water away and speeds drying. Blow dry with hair dryer on WARM setting.
. This all works best if can you open the kbd up - even better if you can put the parts in a clean sink or dish pan and COVER all the parts w/ dh2o and let them soak with agitation for a while - followed by a rinse with more dh2o - followed by alcohol rinse, drain and blow dry .

. And next time don't be stupid! Keep drinks away from computer - especially alcoholic ones which compound the likelihood of spills... ;)

.bh.

p.s. If spilled beverage contains protein and/or fat/oils like beer does, then two or three drops of high quality detergent (e.g. Ivory dish liquid) per quart of dh2o will improve the cleaning action of the first wash. Avoid sudsing as much as possible - stir it in with a spoon.

*dh2o - because it can carry more solute than tap water and dissolves it more quickly - plus it has nothing else in it to leave behind or (like chlorine) hasten any corrosion that might already be developing.

Yeah, that's what I did. $100 on cordless mouse+keyboard. Mouse sucked. Keyboard had Sprite spilt on it. System would not even POST. Blah...
