Calling all Jedi, Sith lords and Bounty Hunters! Spike TV and Lucasfilm today announced that the network will be airing all six of the "Star Wars" movies throughout Memorial Day weekend beginning tonight, Friday May 25 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The movie marathon airs just days before Spike TV's plans to exclusively unveil the newest game franchise in the "Star Wars" universe, which will debut at the 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo. A first look at this top secret project will be revealed on Thursday, May 31, as a part of the pre-E3 episode of Spike's hit video game show "GTTV," followed by the live world gameplay premiere of this new "Star Wars" franchise during the network's "E3 All Access Live" primetime special on June 4 at 10:00 pm ET/7:00 pm PT.
"I am blown away by both the caliber of the team on this project and their bold vision for this new 'Star Wars' title," said Geoff Keighley, Host and Executive Producer, Spike TV's E3 All Access Live special. "I can't wait to introduce our viewers to this game and show off the footage that left my jaw on the floor when I first saw it."
During the GTTV pre-E3 episode, Geoff Keighley travels to San Francisco for exclusive behind-the-scenes access into the LucasArts studio. GTTV also meets with the LucasArts' development team to reveal the name and concept behind this game and introduces viewers to the talented artists who are bringing the E3 demo to life.
On June 4, the eve of E3 2012, viewers will get to enjoy the live world gameplay premiere of the new "Star Wars" property during Spike's E3 All Access Live primetime special beginning at 10:00 pm ET/7:00 pm PT. The project's creative director will join the "All Access" team live in-studio to debut footage of the game and will answer questions from fans in real-time through the show's interactive and social media hub operated by social media correspondent, Justine Ezarik.
Spike's E3 All Access Live multi-platform special will provide gamers with over 40 gaming exclusives and special guest interviews with more than 17 hours of coverage across multiple platforms, including TV, online, mobile social and more. The live program will feature the industry's top press conference events, breaking gaming news and announcements, never-before-seen trailers and gameplay footage, exclusive interviews with the biggest names in gaming and entertainment and more.

Only says video game, if it's good hopefully it's on PC.

Star Wars: Battlefront III, please?

I liked Battlefront and BFII, sad BFII had a short life span and basically no support (one patch I think, then went dead in a month or two after release, something like that, it's been a while, but it was horrible to see it die so fast). Ironically, I think that a BFIII game would suck... strange it's still the kind of Star Wars game I'd like to see, heh. If not, what else? Something maybe along the lines of Republic Commando?

By now I think Star Wars has touched almost (if not all?) genre and platforms that video gaming has offered in its history... I'm not sure what could end up "interesting enough" now. What exactly from Star Wars have we NOT seen in video gaming that we'd like to see? I guess that's a good one...

New X-Wing
New KOTOR
New Jedi Knight

None of those are going to happen, but...really, anything else is going to disappoint. Watch it be another piece of shit Force Unleashed or similar trash.

Let's be honest folks Star Wars franchise has been suffering for a decade, pretty much all the edits, first trilogy and games have been a disappointment.

only thing I'd probably care about is a direct sequel to KOTOR2.

Kotor 3 would be far and away my first choice but I have little to no hope for that.

I might be interested in a new Battlefront or republic commando game, but except for those hoping for kotor 3, I think the interest in star wars is finally waning.

Wow - really? Is this how a lot of gamers view SWTOR?

"Now that Star Wars fans have had a few months to soak up the glory of The Old Republic, the series is ready to move on with a new video game franchise"

I'm pretty sure they just mean the glory of walking around in the Star Wars Universe. But if that's meant as critical statement that the game was glorious, I weep for whatever game is about to be announced.

Star Wars should just retire the name for a few years. The use of its name to sell crappy games is getting embarrassing.

SWTOR is a stain they need to clean first.

BF III would be great, I can't play II because it has an issue with certain dual core CPUs (and I happen to own one of them), it loads them up to 100% usage after a short while and your whole system is locked up. I tried running it on one core, but I can hardly finish a game before that one is stuck at 100%, which drops my FPS to single digits, and I have to quit and start it up again. But I modded I for years, did all kinds of crazy stuff.

Republic Commando was set up for a sequel also.

The article said "...unveil the newest game franchise in the Star Wars universe..."
So, it's possibly something brand new and not a sequel of any existing game.

New X-Wing
New Jedi Knight

None of those are going to happen, but...really, anything else is going to disappoint. Watch it be another piece of shit Force Unleashed or similar trash.

/this.

I want a new X-wing game badly. i have all the previous ones and would love a new updated one.

Star wars:the old republic sucked ass. it was a major waste of money and time. IF they are going to put out that quality of games they might as well retire the franchise.

Well if it's LucasArts developing the title, I wouldn't think it'd be a new KotOR (sadly). Got my fingers crossed for a new flightsim or Jedi Knight.

This probably won't be it, but....

What if it's an MMO space sim, basically EVE within the Star Wars universe?
