AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I would never return to my house if I saw a spider that big!

Trevor

Use to find those spiders in fields near my house all the time. We called them field spiders though. We called the ones with less colors and huge abdomen a garden spiders. Not sure which is true though. The garden spiders would take leaves from trees/bushes and create an upside down cup using its web, then hide in there until dinner came along.

Edit: according to google the yellow backed ones are garden spiders but it also shows other types that look like the one I was talking about.

Ahh two different types, both garden spiders.

that's cool.. and only because it's in a picture in your backyard, and not mine. 4" across!! that's nuts.. cool web.. never seen one like that

That's neat but watch out when you start walking into their webs. It's not tiny like those in the bushes you know 😉

I found two of those at my brothers house a couple of years ago....about 3 inches around. I stuck them in a mason jar together. One killed and ate the other and lived for 3 months in the jar.

Keep it!! I had a spider similar to that one in my backyard. I had lots of locusts in my backyard. The locusts were always eating my plants. So I left the spider, hoping it would devour most of the locusts. And it did. 🙂 But after about 2 months of keeping it in my backyard, it disappeared. 🙁

I want my spider back. 🙁
