Yeah 3 was bad but a far cry from the kind of shit Hollywood is capable of. Just think of what might result if they turned it over to a Michael Bay. *shudder*

Anyway I'm a bit tired of the Spiderman live action flicks. I'd like to see them do a good Green Lantern or Flash. Actually I want another Superman film. Everyone but me hated the Bryan Singer reboot, but I really liked it.

Spiderman 3 terrible? It's better than the first and has higher ratings than it as well.

They rebooted Punisher & The Hulk......The Texas Chainsaw prequel to the remake was pretty much a remake of a remake.

So this isn't so surprising that studios want to remake franchises quicker. It must have worked in the past & that's why there doing it again.

Plus this isn't the only franchise getting the boot for a re-boot.....Tomb Raider, Fantastic 4 are two that popped in my mind.....I can't recall what else.....Anyone else know of others?

Superman.

Oh yeah......Sequel reboots. That took place after II and pretended like 3 & 4 didn't happen.

Only problem was they casted people too young.

I was thinking about the Alien flicks and how they could make a sequel that takes place after Aliens.....

Since people generally dislike Alien 3 and Resurrection. I liked em. However Either making a CGI flick or having it set place years later with Ripley, Hicks and Newt. If the script was solid it could be an awesome flick.

I guess seeing Avatar really makes me want to see Sigourney do more sci-fi action. However she still does some great work in Independent flicks. I'd highly recommend Snow Cake with her & Alan Rickman.

Back on topic..... So who knows....Maybe Hollywood can make it better.....However I liked the director's cut of The Punisher with Thomas Jane better than the reboot. Which is a re-boot of a re-boot of a re-boot as Dolph was the original Punisher, but that was a great cheesy 80s action flick that was barely based off the source material.

The video game based off the Thomas Jane version to me is the sequel to it. That would have been an awesome Punisher flick. The new one was like they couldn't make up there minds on what tone they were trying to go for it. There was however some scenes that were pretty funny & no I am not saying the Thomas Jane version was perfect. Far from it. I just enjoyed it better than the new one.

Yeah Spiderman 2 was kinda bad and 3 was god awful, but this next movie doesn't sound any better. Like others said, Peter Parker pre-spider bite = not interesting at all.

Spiderman 3 was fucking terrible. It probably would have been better with Michael Bay. At least then we probably wouldn't have been subjected to emo Peter Parker.

The black suit story was supposed to be epic and have Peter dance on the edge of becoming evil...certainly not emo...

Even though I still enjoyed Spiderman 3, it was an abomination compared to what it could have been.

I'm glad they're doing a remake as a Spiderman 4 would likely just continue where 3 left off and not really have the potential to return to what we had with 1 or 2.

Reboot? We better not get another origin story.

The high school stuff makes it sound like the Spectacular Spider-man cartoon (which isn't too bad actually).

Maguire is probably getting a little too old to keep playing Peter Parker despite the fact that he still looks like a kid.

Raimi reportedly hated the Venom character. He preferred the classic Spidey villains like Doc Ock, Lizard, Vulture, etc. It shows in his three films.

Some things are better left in comic books or in a cartoon, squeezing the Venom suit into a 2.5 hour live action flick really is a dumb idea, Rami was right.

Maybe what they should do is take a break from comic book movies for awhile anyway, they have enough with Ironman 2 and Thor on the way, Thor can only be cheesy as hell and while I liked Ironman 1, Whiplash looks like He-Man and doesn't make much sense in live action, Ironman or Warmachine should just blast him. I can only imagine how terrible an Avengers movie will be.

Ummm... didn't the first Spiderman movie focus on Peter Parker as a teenager? He was in high school, it showed him getting bit, you get the whole origin story with Uncle Ben and Parker's illustrious wrestling career... Did Sony just say, "Hey, you know what movie was awesome? Spiderman 1! Can we do that again?" Don't get me wrong, Spiderman 3 was unadulterated shit writ large, but do we really need to rehash the first movie again? What a fucking disgrace.

A reboot does not necessarily mean a rehash. See The Incredible Hulk as an example of a reboot.

The comics and cartoons almost always portray Peter Parker as a high schooler or college kid so the time-frame is right. They just have to avoid the origin story and jump right into the story of Peter Parker trying to live a double-life as Spider-man in high school.

They did that for the Spectacular Spider-man cartoon where Parker had already been Spider-man for several months and I thought it worked pretty well.

You mean the Superman movie where he didn't really do anything but act brooding and whiney?

I want a Superman reboot, but make it based on his powers in the animated series. He had limits (.50 cal bullets would give him resistance and sting a bit, he had to strain to hold up a train or a building, etc). That crap where he lifted an entire kryptonite island into space, but had trouble stopping a falling plane didn't sit well with me.

Superman is my favorite character, and in my view still hasn't been done justice to this day. Christopher Reeve's version had the right look for the time, but the cheesy comedy killed it. The "reboot" from a couple of years ago put a lifeless underwear model in the role, and it bored me to tears.

Superman almost needs to be paired with a foil, like Batman, to make a good movie. He's used to being the say all/do all, and being all powerful makes it difficult to put him into practical perilous situations. If faced with a multifaceted threat where someone with just as much respect as Superman forces an opposing point of view to solve a problem, it would create the tension for a great movie.

GOT THAT HOLLYWOOD? Please no more Lex Luthor real estate schemes, using kryptonite as a crutch because you can figure out a story, and no more "kissy kissy I'm an outcast nobody understands me boohoo" crap.

The best quote from a review from Superman Returns was something along the lines that the movie was nothing more than Superman lifting progressively heavier and heavier objects.

I'm also sick of the Lex Luthor real estate schemes. Either Luthor needs to be the genius evil scientist CEO or they need to get another villain to challenge Superman.

Honestly, the Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series, and Justice League cartoons were about the best portrayals of DC characters I've seen.
