spicy ramen?

So with all these Ramen houses opening, I swear half of them are fake. Only a few are authentic. Most of them are Chinese operated or something. Anyways, I've gone to a few good ones that taste very similar to ramen in Japan, but today I got some house special ramen that's spicy at a place I've never been to before. It's not salty like ramen should be like, and I was wondering if this was just fake. Japanese foods aren't spicy. Wasabi is the only spicy thing I thought.. derno

tan tan mein? = spicy shredded pork with lots of green onions. one of my favorites. Chinese influenced but it IS Japanese.

BTW, if you live in the bay area there is this one ramen place that makes their tonkatsu soup base from scratch and it is super good. The place is tiny and there is always a wait but, that is to be expected.

too many chinese operated ramen places that make awful ramen, they are like too soft or it looks more like Chinese noodles than ramen. how was the ramen though? chewy? or soft?

Tonkatsu soup ramen is the best. I agree that korean ramen is pretty damn good too.

nevertheless, i think the only original anything from japan is sushi. everything else was brought over to the island, not taken out of it

most of the korean instant ramen are spicy. go to the nearest korean supermarket and head for the "rah myun" section.

look for packages with pictures of red peppers, flames :laugh:

Ramen Halu? That place has been on SJ Mercury news about a billion times. There are lines outside everytime I go, and there are lines before it even opens ><. I waited forever with 3 friends to get in for lunch 1 day.

No.

1) I believe food at Asian Ghetto is completely Americanized. Furthermore, I know the Japanese store there is Taiwanese owned. I walk in and they start speaking Taiwanese among themselves... uhhh frankly my grandma cooks closer to Japanese given that she was in Taiwan during the occupation.
