Spiced Rum Versus

What flavors does Spiced Rum have in it? Do you prefer it over clear rum? I am used to buying the clear cruzan rum and mixing with coke

vanilla is my fav part of spiced rum. I didn't realize it was vanilla until I smelled "Vanilla Mint Listerine" and realized it was the same scent as the Capn and Sprite I had the night before.

Spiced rum is a mashup of flavors - vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and then some fruits and maybe a bit of mint tossed in too.

Regular rum is sort of like a sweeter, heavier vodka.

Dark rum is fantastic. Straight up or mixed. Light rum should be mixed. Spiced rum neat or mixed, depends on the brand. Sailor Jerry is quite good, not too much a fun of Capn morgan. I like Capn morgan private stock however, neat.

For some reason I can drink vodka like a fish but any other hard alcohol is just ugh.

I drank too much rum and got sick from it too often in high school and early university that even the thought of rum makes me want to puke.

For anyone who has had Sailor Jerry, anyone want to hazard a guess as to what other flavors are in it? I can definitely taste some other flavors. iirc, there is some Cherry thrown in, for example.

Though, to sum it up, the flavor of Sailor Jerry is: Deliciousness.

i think captain morgan is much better than sailor jerry or admiral nelson.

i'm out of captain right now 🙁

you my man, have good taste.

love jerry.

All I know is that Sailor Jerry tastes like heaven in a bottle, and that's good enough for me. My clear liquor of choice is gin.

fuck spiced. Save the clear stuff for mixed drinks. Darker rums FTW. mmmm.

St Maarten Guavaberry. It also comes in Lime, mango, and several others. The only one they ever made available in the U.S. was the basic Guavaberry, and last time I checked its not available right now.

The only common rum I can drink is Captain's. I'm not proud of it but Bacardi and such just taste awful and lead to my worst hangovers.

I just picked up a bottle of Zaya 12 year the other day. First time i've been able to sip hard alcohol since college. Put a splash of coke in it and it was amazing.

Gin is my clear choice too. Currently have a bottle of Bombay Sapphire.

1800 is the cheapest tequila I'll go for, and I'll basically stick to it anyhow, Patron is good but not good enough to warrant the price increase. Currently have 1800 Anejo, might get the slightly lighter variant whenever I finish this bottle. Lasting forever, don't drink tequila often.

Sailor Jerry, is of course, my rum of choice.
Clear rums are never to touch my lips. Never. Do need to try a good dark rum one day, never really had the opportunity to (and won't buy it on a gamble), other than a vanilla dark rum hand-bottled in Martinique and sold at a small shoppe in the port town. Was like 6 years ago, don't remember it at all.

Vodka is my other clear liquor choice, depending on the quality is what its uses are. Currently been sticking to Stolichnaya, just feels right. 🙂 But I'll pick a random one of similar price quite often, Vox was pretty good when I tried it. Quite nice served chilled and shaken.

Oh, and Kahlua Especial = crazy delicious. Makes a terrific black russian or Tanned Caucasian (my ever-so-slightly milk-diluted White Russian, best way to serve imho).
