Maybe I am crazy for asking here, lol but, I need some ideas on things that my girlfriend and I can do as a couple.

Background:

Dating for 2 years, lived together for a year and a half.
Both have highly stressful jobs.
Im a hardcore gamer. Thats how I de-stress. (She doesn't game like I do)
She watches TV to destress ( I hate watching TV, to mindless for me)

Looking for something that is either free or under 300$ to get started in that we can do together and enjoy over a long term time.

She wants me to spend more time in the living room with her watching TV and cuddling...ok I would rather off myself then sit in front of a TV. She feels the same way about playing battlefield 2 with me(I even built her a badass gaming rig)

Any suggesstions? I agree we need to spend more time together just looking for some help as to what we could do. (FYI: the sex is great and their is plenty of that, but thats not quality time she says...sigh..)

uhm. how stressful can your job be if you don't need to know the difference between "their" and "there"?

but to answer your Q:

For $300, invest in a sybian. It'll get her off your back while you game. Of course, losing your girlfriend to a stimulatory device would be pretty humiliating, so buyer beware.

Go out and dine at fancy restaurants. I go to frisco with my gf a lot and we just eat out and walk around town. We also snowboard a lot together and when it is hot, we play tennis and badminton. We used to game when cs 1.6 was out but she stopped playing a long time ago. We still occassionally play halo 2 or games on my ps2 but that's it. Besides that, we have sex.

Considering that the problems I solve, every minute I take to fix can cost the bank up to 2million per minute....pretty damn stressful.

And you know, maybe one day I will be able to aspire to your level in my use of the english language, but I am at work typing this between calls. If you do not have anything productive to say, stay the hell out the thread.

Lola

dance lessons at a community center? cooking lessons? garden together?
volunteer together? play kid-like boardgames? (sounds stupid, but can be a lot of fun)
puzzles? hiking? building things together (like habitiat for humanity)

I know you said you both have stressful jobs, but all these things will bring you together.

"between calls" seems to account a good deal of time, judging by the rapidity of your responses.

And although the inspirational speech given by your bank manager was undoubtedly very touching- NO, pouring coffee for the tellers is actually NOT a critical part of their operation.

Sorry.

Oh, and the focal point of this harrassment is: You play games, your gf watches TV. The first douchebag that offers her any semblance of an exciting fling is going to walk her out of your life, leaving you bawling into your headset, snot soaking your wireless keyboard, tears blurring your vision, obscuring the 24" monitor you emptied her engagement ring fund to purchase.

You're doomed :(

what's Geocaching?

Unless I horribly mangled the spelling or am thinking of the wrong word, it's where people go out and hide "treasures" then publish the GPS location of the stash. Then others get out their hand-help GPS locators, traipse about the countryside/city looking for the thing. The treasures can be anything, and are often disposably cameras that the finder uses to take his pick, then re-hides it someplace else for others to find.

Used to be pretty popular, don't knwo much about it other than that, however.

Walk around the mall, shop, watch some movies, dine and hang out in the park.

Maybe check out some of the classes at the local community college. A friend here at work and his girl started taking a wine tasting class together. Other suggestions, check your area listings for local events. I know in my area they have something happening nearly year round....free music downtown one night a week (they close down some streets), Wine over water (wine tasting thing on a pedestrian bridge), Cajun Cookoff, etc. You could also check out your local nature center, if you're looking to get out more.

Ha funny, I am Exchange Admin for a national bank in Charlotte, NC. I do support for our traders. 40+ servers spread over the globe, 10 million emails come through those servers a day. If you have any clue of the amount of money that a trader deals with, then you understand.

It all depends. what kind of shape are you guys in?

If you are in bad shape starting working out together. If you are in good shape maybe go rock climbing. I used to do that with my girl friend and its great because its a solo thing and also kinda needs teamwork. You really need to help eachother get past some of the harder paths.

Do you like movies? Compromise on what shows to watch? Cuddling=AWESOME.

Ho about move your gaming rig over so at least you guys can be touching while you game and she watches TV...rest your legs on her lap or something. There is no substitute for human touch.

How about attending live sporting events or concerts of some kind?

Sports! Play tennis! I taught my gf how to play it, and now she uses her ninja skills (martial arts) to kick my ass with all her jumping and what not...

Sounds like we possibly work for the same company, but I'm based in Boston and am a simple Desktop Tech. We support a few traders up here. They deal with LOTS of money, so I know where you're coming from.
