Spending freeze

I've always done my best to be frugal. Building a new PC less often helps. My biggest pitfall is being a car guy as "car stuff" adds up very quick.

The city I would like a job with has a big hiring freeze and has had one for quite a while. Shitty.

I have sortof restrained myself, not because of the economy but becuase of lower expected pay/hours from my current job (compared to my last one) and more expenses (need new glasses ..)

I've cut back myself. I'm trying to pay off my car, and get a place on my own. Also my GF has no idea how to save, so i'm trying to teach her. Its kind of neat finding fun stuff to do that doesn't cost money. This weekend we will be going to an old abandoned concert bowl to take some pictures and explore. But we haven't completely cut off, we're also going to see that 3D horror movie at an iMax. But no more nice dinners or nights out drinking on the town.

I'm an avid mask collector - horror masks, memorabilia, etc.

Now that the economy is in the dumper and we're not paying off bills as easily I had to drop something - my hobby was the first thing to go on hold.

At my job there is a hiring freeze. Also, they are not throwing us a Christmas Party or Company Picnic this year... that's all fine by me.

Maybe now our bonus will actually be worth a crap.

I'm also trying to save more. If I get some money I wasn't expecting I make myself save at least 10% of it.

I'm still living at home so I don't have the debt a lot of people have. I do have a car loan that I'm starting to pay more than the minimum payment on. It's nice to be able to manage money in a way where you can forget about a paycheck because it hasn't all been spent yet.
