Spending ~$25K on a roadster...

The thing that scares me about the boxster is working on it. I dont' think you can 🙂. I just looked awhile ago and there a lots for under $20k here and a few for under $15k of coarse they are older ones.

I'd take one of the new Solstice turbos when they come out 260hp and 260ft-lbs.

my uncle just picked up a 2001 Porsche Boxster S with 35,000 miles for $28,000. Very nice car. Just gonna be a nightmare when it needs maintenance.

get s2000 because it handles like no other... as all the s2000 owners would say.. "Happiness is not around the corner, IT IS the corner."
drive it. u will love it.. here's mine...
oh yea.. girls love it.. 😀

Love the white w/ red interior.

I have an 04 S2000. That is the first car I have ever owned that I will keep till the tires fall off. I get tired of cars easily but so far after 2 years I like it as much as the day I bought it.

Significantly faster than what you are considering, and in your price range.

basically what I did. it's a lot of fun.

Seriously, drive them all- I'd bet money that you'd come back to this at the end. S2000, no contest. You won't be seeing boxsters worth your time for that kind of money.

edit: wait, i take it back. that's an M roadster you have there, not a Z3. Take the ///M! It's the ultimate driving machine.

you guys talking about the sky redline and solstice gxp... the GXP will be around 28k. and the Redline 33k. not exactly where hes looking..

Like others have said, good luck finding an M roadster out there that isn't abused/high mileage for $25k.

I'd get teh S2000 simply because of the value. For whatever reason, their resale drops like a rock. You can buy used S2000s for $14,000 if you look. There have been two on s2ki.com in the past 2 weeks.

So it is probably 6 months or so off, but once the warranty of my current car's transmission expires I will be in the market for a "new" car. I used to fancy myself an american muscle type guy, but after driving a few friend's german and japanese cars I see the fit and finish just doesnt hold a candle. Plus I want to do some weekend autocrossing. Anyway, I've narrowed down a few choices:

Porsche Boxster
Honda S2000
BMW M Roadster (Z3 based, not new Z4 based)

All of these can be had for 20-25k depending on mileage.

Saturn Sky or the
Pontiac Solstace with the 265hp option

i had a 2001 boxster S, i loved that car to death and hated having to sell it. ive driven the bmw, and the boxster was a whole lot better.

I don't really like the look of the Solstice...it's ok. Good luck finding a car in your price range 😀

I would get a Miata or the Boxster. I saw some at $20k with 40k miles...it's pretty good 😀

Edit: Actually the S2000 is a GREAT car, get that with like 5k miles 😉
