Check this out (very good forums for people looking to buy a mattress), $2500 is way too much. There are other non brand name foams you can buy for less than $2000 easy.

Box Springs: I find them wholly unnecessary. Think about it: Presumably, you could put a box spring under your box spring for even more "give" and "support." Another box spring under those two. Where do you draw the line? Also, remember that box springs add significantly to your cost. One reasonable argument I heard for them is that they save wear on your mattress, but I had no way to prove or disprove this.

YES THE COST IS HIGHER but the quality is better!! (MUCH BETTER)

Ever since i got rid of my box spring mattress I CANNOT SLEEP IN MY BED,ITS A PIECE OF GARBAGE... All this foam crap they have now is pure trash like everything else now!


I have aches and pains all over from sleeping on that trash.... I would do anything to get a GOOD BOX SPRING back (One from 30 years ago with a GOOD PILLOW would be wonderful)

Good choice man, it really is a whole different sleep than stupid spring beds diggin in every which a way. I'm a convert as well.

Yeah, I don't think it's ridiculous to spend a few thousand for something that you spend 8 hours a day in. No idea if that's a good price for that particular tempurpedic model, but I'm on board with the concept.

Makes sense to me. Don't like your mattress topper? Throw it out and buy 10 more, you're still out less money than buying one $2500 mattress.

This. The "Spend retarded amount of money on a mattress because you'll spend 1/3 life in it" is how they maintain 1000% margins on something that costs $50 to make.

You'll drink a million gallons of water during your life, does that mean you should spend $5 for purified spring water every time you drink? You'll spend 99% of your life wearing clothes, thus you should only buy handmade designer clothes. Stupid marketing gimmick is stupid.

Pretty happy with my $600 novaform. You ever sit/sleep on a tempurpedic? very soft. not good if you like firm beds.

not true... I have a tempurpedic and it's not soft at all... Paid 2500$ a couple years back at Bricks and it's still like brand new. So unless you like sleeping on a mattress that is hard as a rock, I would recommend it.

The thing with mattresses is you can typically get them for 30-50% of MSRP...so without knowing what mattress you are exactly looking at there is no way to know.

the 800-mattress places can give you a second quote to see if its a fair deal.

Budget for a mattress is totally dependent on what it's worth to you. I'd definitely not go into debt over a bed. Also many places have 'mix and match' sales. Basically non-matching foundations and mattresses.

Back in the mid 90's I was able to put together a matching King set. It was like a $1000 bed on sale, for only $25 each foundation and $200 for the mattress.

They didn't want to honor the deal since there wasn't supposed to be matching sets...the manager caved once I had them verify my past purchases there.

Id go with a latex bed. Last longer and doesnt have the hotness foam matresses do. I had a foam matress for awhile. It gets hot since they dont breathe well.

I could be completely wrong, but as I think tempurpedic is one of "those" companies that does not permit significant price cutting on their products. As such, I would be extremely wary of any company selling way below the normal price on a tempurpedic.
