Spend 2500 on a mattress set

I found a deal for tempurpedic cloud luxe mattress set, queen size, for $2500. Would I be crazy for spending that much on a mattress?

if your young, yeah. if your my age or older (35), $2500 starts sounding reasonable if it helps you sleep pain free. lol

Pretty happy with my $600 novaform. You ever sit/sleep on a tempurpedic? very soft. not good if you like firm beds.

Yes you would be crazy. Especially when you get the same basic thing with this on a regular mattress. I have a firm mattress right now with a 3" memory foam topper, and it feels amazing, almost like a foam mattress (yes i have slept in one) but cheaper my mattress was 400 bucks the topper was about 85. Why would you ever spend over two grand!?

If you'd be crazy for that, I belong in an asylum for what we spent on our Tempurpedic Rhapsody bed.

Worth every penny to me though.

Tempurpedics are amazing! Good choice.
And you're spending a third of your freakin life in it. It wouldn't be unreasonable to buy a new one every 3 or 4 years even, for the amount that you use a bed.

have you ever slept on a memory foam bed before?

they are comfortable but they make me super hot so i cant stand them

Yeah, I don't think it's ridiculous to spend a few thousand for something that you spend 8 hours a day in. No idea if that's a good price for that particular tempurpedic model, but I'm on board with the concept.

It's retarded to claim that $2500 is too much for a bed. People pay $10,000 extra for a more comfortable car that they spend only a small fraction of that time in.

Well, you do spend 1/4-1/3 of your life on a bed so you might as well get one that you like. I would look at cheaper options to see if anything else would give you equal value

If you're going to splurge on one thing, it should be a mattress. You spend 25-33% of your life on it.

It seems everybody lives life differently. I have yet to ever purchase a mattress and prefer sleeping on the floor with a sleeping bag or similar amount of cushioning underneath. People complain about their back while sleeping in a mattress that cost them several thousand dollars while my back is perfectly fine. For me, $500 would be too much.

Congrats on having a perfect back.

You spend 1/3 of your life in bed, don't sacrifice comfort over what is very little money as compared to house/apartment or car

If you think it's more comfortable than any of the cheaper options, why not? Although, as someone mentioned, maybe you should check out a mattress topper as well.

Worst part about a memory foam mattress is trying to move it. You can grip a normal mattress, but trying to pick up a memory foam mattress is like picking up jell-o.

Wife has had many many knee surgeries (and we are in our mid twenties) so I basically give her a big blank check when it comes time to purchase a mattress. Last one was a Sealy beautyrest memory foam top, king size, with height adjusted legs. I could care less (I used to sleep on a futon for 5 years), but for her added comfort for her already bad knees, she gets what she wants. I thought it was silly to spend more than $500 on a mattress. We spent $1600 on it, and after we got it, it was definitely worth the money.

This is why mattress companies can rake you over the coals on prices, by convincing people of this fact. But you're not getting $2500 worth of value versus a simple mattress topper on top of a cheap mattress.

The entire mattress industry is a scam.

Makes sense to me. Don't like your mattress topper? Throw it out and buy 10 more, you're still out less money than buying one $2500 mattress.
