Don't be afraid to contest it.
If you have a clean prior record, a driver's license from the same state and are pleasant.. you might get lucky.

I test drove a 2005 Pontiac GTO the other day. Took it up to 140mph on highway 50 in a 65... wasn't caught. I'm laughing at you.

I got my first ticket last week. Cop said I was going 88 in a 70. I was passing a car that was on their cell phone and was driving like a idiot. Went around him, max 75-76. Another car behind me was catching me fast and all of a sudden slowed down. Few seconds later I saw blue lights. Cop pulled me over and was an a$$. I was respectful and all. Didn't even give me a warning, he said I was racing with the guy behind me, and to have a nice day. I was pissed off big time when he left. The next day I purchased a radar detector just to know where those cops are. talked to my sis who works at a big lawfirm and got me off the hook. But I still have the points on my license.

Either way, I feel like he should have checked my background to see if I had prior, and given me a warning atleast. Not a ticket

me too. I got my first speeding ticket tonight supposedly going 75 on a 65 on the highway. However, I was on the exit ramp when I got pulled over so there was no way i could have went that fast because the lane was curvy. Furthermore, she clocked me at some street 5 miles away from where I actually pulled over and stopped. SOme would say she was just running my license plate which was why it took so long to pull me over...BUT i just bought my car so my plate doesn't come yet. I am definitely going to fight it with trial by declaration.

But this is your thread, sorry. I just wanted to vent too.

why is that?

Explain to me how "talking" to your sister at a Law Firm got a ticket dismissed. I'm friends with several local cops and attorneys as well as having my own attorney, and if I got a speeding ticket I'd be on my own. I could pay for my attorney to fight it, represent myself, or eat it. No one is going to dismiss a ticket just to be nice. Perhaps if you explained how talking to your sister had any effect it might make sense. Why would you get a warning if you were speeding? Why would you expect one?

LIke I said he said I was going 88 which I wasn't. My sister is a paralegal and I talked to her about the situation. I told her I wasnt going that fast and that I believed the fine was to high. Her boss told my syster for me to fax the ticket to her. He is from the area and talked with judge about the ticket. Looked up my record and in fact saw no prior tickets and believed me on that fact that I said I was not driving that fast. The judge dropped the fine on the ticket and said I didn't have to go to court. But the points would still be on my license.
